Just wondering what you guys with the e46's are paying a month/year for insurance, and whats your age, because that all makes a difference

Yes, this is very subjective...but here goes.

Allstate Ins., 43 years old, no accidents/tickets in the last 10 years, second car, 1.5 miles to and from my office...costs roughly $1250 per year.

I'm gonna shop it as I think that might be too high. Oh yeah, this is for a convertible as well.

Hmm.. Geico are quoting me $1800 on the wife's Ford Expedition and my M3 vert. With pretty good limits.

I'm 34, my wife is 32, but we've only had US licenses for a year. I thought we were getting ripped off, but now I'm not so sure!

mine is around $1500 or $1600 per year with State Farm. Coverage is maxed out for SF auto policy and add another $150 per year bringing total coverage to $1 million (under a home / auto umbrella policy).

30 years old, living in big city (Chicago)

Apparently, your credit score has some strong influence on ins. premiums these days. I think it's fuxin stupid, and should be repealed... one's driving record and related age/location info should be all that's reviewed for it.

I'm surprised how low our insurance is, given how badly some people seem to drive around Roanoke! :wave

100% Definite. We only moved to the US a year ago and many insurance companies were open about the fact our premiums would be much higher because of us being unknown to the credit rating systems.

It's 100% true, and I am inclined to agree with people who say it is unfair. It's certainly not what credit reports were designed to tell you.

I did not know that. I am under USAA (military) and I wonder if they use the same criteria. I want to belive that they base their rates off of things pertaining to the automobile and automobile owner, so I may call up tonight and ask them about this.

The >25 year age mark really drives down the insurance premiums. I am kind of jealous of the fact that some people are going to pay less the whole year, than I will for one six-month period. What can you do though? (Minus getting older)

Are you sure that's the annual rate and not the six month rate? Insurance companies almost always quote a price for six months...

Just want to double-check...

Crypto & I live in a fairly quiet rural area? Location may be a big factor - or at least it is back in the UK?

I confess to knowing bugger all about US insurance!

Location is definitely a factor, but I live in a semi-rural area as well, in a mostly rural state.

I moved to Roanoke, VA about 1 year ago, and during that time I was told that auto insurance around here ranks as one of the cheapest places in the US. :-) pretty cool! my insurance on my current vehicles was almost cut in half when I moved here from Raleigh, NC.

I've been paying this amount for the past 2 years.
I have a clean record.
No moving violations for over 5 years.
No at-fault accidents for over 5 years... actually.. I've never had an at-fault accident... ever.

When I was living in Seattle with my E46 325i... GEICO charged me $1100 for 6 months with the same coverage. Here in Hawaii, I'm getting the same for about $700 for 6 months now with a more expensive car.

i'm highly dreading this in two months when i turn 23, I just hope i can get a better rate than you since i live in a small city, However i have two tickets and an Accident which will be 3 years ago. Does anybody know how long an accident stays on your record?. Right now i'm under my parents family plan so it's 2400 a month with full coverage deductible of $150 for my 02 M3 and it's about $20 less a month for the 03 Hummer H2.
