left my lights on at work, came out to a locked car with a dead batt. I called the place i bought it from , concord motorsports, that specializes in bmw and the owner who i know and trust walked me through how to force the lock with the key in the passenger side door. I tried last night with both doors and it ended with me breaking my key in the drivers door. thats right, i sheared it right off in the drivers side door. I came back with a new key and tried on the pass. door just now. After a bit of light pressure i felt a click and heard something metallic bounce down to the bottom of the inside of the door, sounds like i just toasted my tumbler or something. I don't feel like resorting to breaking a window quite yet and i've heard there's a way to jump it from a light in the trunk, in have the trunk open. So, how would you go about jumping it from the light wiring in the trunk is my question. Or any other suggestions before i end up calling some place to have them give it a shot. I'm parked in a mall's parking lot and they have jumper packs just to let you know.

anyone?

I didn't read it all, but if you search, there's like 5 of these in the last month.

Dude a good window gapper bar and slim jim will catch the lock and have you in within seconds.

You must be doing the emergency unlock wrong, just like EVERYONE else.

Step 1.) Insert key and turn the top end of the key towards the front of the car.
Step 2.) Lift up on door handle while continuing to apply pressure. (not enough to snap the key)
Step 3.) Release door handle while continuing to apply pressure. (not too much!)
Step 4.) Handle again, car is now unlocked. Enter car.

I don't get it...:confused My battery has gone dead and I just put the key in the drivers door and it opened like normal but without the power assist. I did notice that once in the car I was unable to unlock the other door manually. Am I missing something here??

You can jump the battery from the engine compartment, just find the positive jump point. The car has two remote lock modes. One can be manually over-run by simply using the key. The second mode locks the car in more of a dead-bolt like system. You need to open it from the passenger side with a specific unlocking sequence.
