Does anyone have pictures of the windshield retaining clips on their race car?

Also, I've seen an "S" shaped aluminum piece that would be perfect for the top clips. But, I can't remember where I saw it. :( It was made for some other purpose.

The top of the "S" would hook over the windshield with a rubber pad and then the bottom of the "S" would hook over the sheet metal lip. A bolt could then be put through the very bottom of the "S" to tighten it to the sheet metal.

Anyone have a clue on where to find something like this?

TIA

You might be overthinking this. A piece of aluminum with a slight bend in it and a hole to attach it to the body with a nut and nutsert will do the job. I'll see if I can track down a picture of ours.

Thats what we did for my brothers car and my car. Piece of aluminum flat stock slightly bent. Drill a hole in the roof, insert a nutsert and fasten down. We have 2 up top and 2 on the bottom along the inner lexan windshield support.

Yes it seems simple, I have been looking for these as well and can certainly build them. I am also looking for wihdshield support bars that go behind the windshield. Again I can build them, but there is a lot of stuff to fab when building an entire car.

Stick with the KISS principle on stuff like this. Looks good, does the job, very easy to fabricate. All you need is Alum Flat Stock, Nutsert, drill some holes, and thats pretty much it. Even with an "off the shelf part" you'll still need to do 90% of the work, which is drilling the mounting holes and inserting the nutserts.

As mentioned, they are pretty simple to make. But if you don't want to make them you can buy some from Smart Racing Products.

Smart wants $28 PER tab, thats crazy! They are just small pieces of Alum with two holes drilled in it.

Here are some tabs off of my friend's Porsche 944 Turbo. Hope this helps.

Yeah, they aren't cheap but they are nicer than the commonly used flatstock, on the other hand you're not building a showcar... \

Those are straight tabs from the picture, you'll want to make sure you get pre-bent tabs, or tabs that can be bent easily, as the window is not on the same plane of the body panels where the tabs mount to.
