I am planning on getting a new car to replace my current BMW early next year.

The new M3 models are all sold out and waiting lists. Should I get the current M3 model or just be patient and wait for the new 400HP M3 with V8?

Depends on how bad you want it I guess. I personally try to stay away from the first year a car comes out since it has more "bugs" than later years.

Wait and see what it looks like and decide. The pics I have seen have been a little too feminine for me, but we shall see.

get the e46 for sure. It's a lot better looking IMO. Plus you can always turbocharge the damn thing and it'll be just as fast. The hood bulge on the E92 is just monstrous and ugly.

I just saw a profile of the new M3 on a news site and I did not like it. The E46 is better looking. I will have to see it live.

Well I agree- I will see if the new M3 looks good and how reliable it is. If I can score a sweet deal on the current M3 then I would probably do that. I hear that BMW car club is giving members a 5k discount on the current M3, is this true?

Go with a 2006...ALL KINKS WORKED OUT!!

BMW always seem to have kinks in the first few years of a model. Especially with this big a change for the next model.

SO you may have to wait 2 years to get a "stabilized" model.

Just look at the e46 M3... it took them a good 2.5 years to get everything straightened out and all the updates put on. At this rate, I won't be looking back in the market until at least 2010.5

pick up an '04 CPO now. wait until the kinks are worked out on the new model (will be about 2 years from now) then dump the '04 for a new one.

Thats the plan. I have to see what kinda deal I can score on an '06-07 M3 coupe.

I see them for about 40k-50k on deal lots right now with under 20k miles- is that a good deal?

i agree with the purchase of late in the life of the model style thinking.

also, there was a thread about poor m3 mpg. if this worries you at all, don't buy the new one, or the old one for that matter...
