I know but still no buyers. Everynody talks talks but no one payed yet. I think I will find myself a bad M roady or a 323 and convert Nadroj 04-08-2007, 01:27 AM i wish this swap was more common in the e36's, ie i don't want to try it until some one else figures it out HiRide 04-08-2007, 02:22 AM its just a difficult motor to work with. The high compression make it very sensitive to tuning as does the stepless dual vanos. not to say it cant be done, but the DME is the other challenge. Then if you decide to go standalone, you need to find one that has the ability to control the dual vanos and a system that is capable of PROPERLY controlling the vanos will be expensive... Motec, Pectel.. I dont even think Tec3, Autronic, or AEM will give you the extensive tunability with multiple cam tables with multiple axis. Or you could block off the vanos and toss in some super hot cams, PTG style and you would no longer have to worry about dealing with that aspect, the thing is you lose a possible fail point with the vanos and an expensive one at that, but you also lose the ability to tune with vanos on your side which is what makes the HPF turbo kit so unique. They have successfully overidden the DME controls of the vanos with an ECU that allows them multiple cam tables and they can use boost as an axis. They can use the vanos to spool up the turbo quick and then push it to peak power. Thats also why the torque curve keeps climbing for so long. at the end of the day, an S54 project will be an expensive one, and much more complicated than just mounting the engine and tranny and building a drive shaft. Its been done in an E30 thats somewhere on here and its turbo.... very fast... I would love to see an S54 in an e36, but the S54 is pretty much the same as the S50B32(or was it s52b32?) in the euro. Its a much newer and higher tech powerplant, but they produce similar power numbers, both have stepless Dual vanos, and somewhat similar power curves and the S50b32 will be much easier to tune since the stock DME for the e36 has been cracked. Still, it would be a fun project. Call the guys at AutoFAB (678) 482-2221 they might know someone who would like to do something with it. If I blow my S54, I will be calling you...hehe, were trying something different and I am just praying it works out. mert1 04-08-2007, 11:12 AM its just a difficult motor to work with. There is one with a blown engine I want but they are not selling just yet. With the S54 swap and the 6 speed in the M roady and maybe a supercharger with a better diff would be a fun fun car. Do you know anything about that. tynashracing 04-08-2007, 11:41 AM wow awesome price!!! holy! faarrr superior to the outdated s50b32... man thats sweet. I think you must be confused. The S50B32 is the euro engine. You know, the one with 6 throttle bodies, solid lifters and a redline of 7600 rpm's. I'm running this engine in my race car and make 289 rwhp STOCK. Stock ecu...only mod is exhaust. I think you must be thinking of the S52B32 (US) version. |
