Perhaps someone would know on how I can eliminate or surpress the noise on my 525 '04 squaking noise coming from the door windows. I notice it happens everytime I take it for a car wash and if I lower down all down the windows a bit is won't squick. Then after a while the noise would disappear. bmw service told me that the rubber on the doors would need to be replace which will cost more than $1K. I just could not justify spending such rediculous amount. Then some kind bmw service guy gave a somethng that looks like a pen highliter. sorry but I don't understand what's scribe on the BMW pen coz it is written in german lang . He told me to clean the rubber on the windows then apply pen around it. still did not work. would be great if anyone can share other ideas I can try.

there is a quieting tape that is used on the doors. its the flocking on top of the doors is what squeaks, not the windows. also make sure you have the updated door seals. they help out a TON.

the pen applicator is a temporary fix, and does not work any longer.

it needs the door seals to shut it up. im telling you.

Its not actually the door seals that need to be replaced. It is the felt flocking on the top edge of the doors. There is a bulletin about this situation. What you do is replace the flocking, and apply a 1/2 inch wide piece of clear tape to the body where the felt touches the body.

i think that was what was implied.

Between the roof and the top edge of the door is a seal, it has flocking on it. Flocking is a thin velvety substance that keeps the metal of the door from directly contacting the rubber of the seal and..wait for it... squeaking. So replacing the flocking and replacing the seal are... you guessed it.. the same thing! And this is what has to be done with an updated part.

if the noise goes away when you let the windows down a tad, it's the window guides. BMW has updated the rubber material they use so they don't squeak anymore. And the Carboflex (lube he's talking about rubbing on there) won't help if it's the window guides.

I'm guessing your car is out of warranty?

I am looking to buy a used 2004 530i and so far this is what I have been noticing...squeaking noise (door)...the car has 30K miles on it...can I still go to BMW dealer and have it fixed without getting charged for it?

You answer would be based on the original in-service date, which is 48 months from original delivery to the original owner.
