These guys rock. Nothing but thumbs up for them.
A few years ago they repsprayed the front end of a buddies' Estoril E36 M3. At the time I was doing detailing for a living, and when he asked me to polish the car after the paint had cured I was absolutely FLOORED when I inspected the paint. I had honestly never seen a non-factory paintjob that well done.
Fast forward to the present. My dad backed my M5 into a trailer so I took it upon myself to get a new bumper skin, take it to the paint shop, and swap it out with the damaged one. Fun little project, and Ryan @ West Coast was amazing in helping out. I dropped the new bumper and diffuser off there on Monday, and he called me on Wednesday morning to let me know they were sprayed and ready.
I went in to pick them up today, and as he was helping me carry them out to my car he took a good look at one of the pieces and said "This is too thin. I am going to have this resprayed for you. Come back Tuesday." Just like that. I took a close look at the part in the sun and could barely see that it wasn't perfect, but it was only along the very bottom edge. I consider myself a perfectionist, and I wouldn't have been bothered by this at all. Ryan was adamant about having it resprayed, though. He wanted it to be perfect.
Kind of goes along with the story another Bimmerforums member told me about his front bumper which West Coast sprayed last year. Ryan told him "I don't think we did the colormatch as well as we could have -- if you're not happy with it, bring it back and we'll respray it for you". When he got it home and got it bolted up to the car, he said it was so perfect that you couldn't tell it wasn't original paint.
Anyways, two thumbs up for Ryan at West Coast Specialties. I had a tough time deciding between local bodyshops to spray the new M5 bumper (remember, I'm a total perfectionist) and it came down to Amato's, Chapparone, and West Coast. In all honesty, West Coast was the ONLY place I have never heard anything negative about as far as quality of work. The one negative I heard (years ago) about West Coast was that they can take a while to do the work sometimes, but honestly their facility is top notch and these days they are speedy as ever.
I'm stoked, as you can tell. Going to slap the new bumper cover on this weekend after I polish the rest of the M5 (don't want a nice perfect bumper cover and swirls on the rest of the car), then I'll toss up a few pics.
