If you had to choose between upgrading suspenion (koni DA's or Advanced Design or similar price range), new cams (shricks), or better diff (3.64 or 3.73) which would it be for best bang for the buck?

my current setup:
Koni SA's with 525 & 600lb springs (25k hard miles)
stock cams w/ 3.5" setup, 24lb inj. and turner chip (235whp)
3.38 used diff.

This would be for an IP/GTS3 car btw.

Thanks for the input,
Matt

The diff will give you the best bang for the buck, IMO. You'll struggle to learn the new shift points at tracks you've been going to on a regular basis, but it will be the most noticeable thing you'll do to the car.

Suspension could effectively make for the quickest lap times, but that would be dependant upon the amount of money you put into it. There's also the time it takes to get the setup to your liking, especially if you're familiar with the car as-is and it feels good in it's current state.

You'll get the most benefit from the cams WITH the diff too. I did cams first and found that the gearing wasn't quite right for the new powerband. The diff helps to keep you right in the meat of the power.

Do the Diff! :D

I went cams, diff and then suspension, but if I could have a do over, I'd go:

Diff
Suspension
Cams

This is for your IP car? If so, I'd do:

Suspension, then diff, then cams. Both the diff and the cams are hopefully going to raise your typical corner entry speed. What good is that without a suspension that can better take advantage of it?

Unless your suspension is wore out I'd do the diff.

You know my answer, suspension, diff, then cams. I'll let you know how the combination of the first two works out in a couple of weeks Matt :dunno

1) suspension - going from SA to DA makes a huge difference and gives you a good platform for any other upgrade
2) diff
3) cams

Agree... And, don't forget delrin or urethane bushings front and rear if you haven't done it already.

I'd be selling mine too, but I never bought them in the first place!

I'm also interested in those selling their AD's... Also, SG, didn't you say you were going to sell your wheels as well?

SG, DWhite, etc.. selling AD's, I'm interested.

My call on the original question, suspension or diff - close call. I've seen amazing suspension work equal extremely fast times compared to a prior setup. But that is a double edged sword if you don't know what your doing.... :)

Hey Matt,

Toss up between suspension / diff. I guess it reallydepends on what suspension you end up deciding on. But def. cams last.

I would go with the suspension first, then diff, and cams last.

Suspension or diff - it's a toss up depending on if your current suspension is performing well or not.

I also have REAR ONLY AD's for sale - selling both for $450 if interested.

They were in a box in the garage that I cleaned out and found. I remember buying them and literally running them twice when my DA Koni's were back at Koni being rebuilt - had to have something to race with and Dale when he was at Ground Control hooked me up.

LOL, I bet those are the same AD's I sent back to Dale off of his old car? Sorry to change the subject. ;)
