alright m8 i'll tell u something..these kind of swaps..whether it was and RB26dett or a 2JGTE or an F20C or LSx or watever swap u want it all CAN be done....it's not a matter of wat and how..it's a matter of how much money u got and do u know a good place to do it?cuz from my experience in these things all u need is money...a lot of money...with all means....and a garage u trust...but basically u'r gonna need to change everything..u might need to make new custom parts...u might need to cut/bend or watever....but watever it is..it can be done..if u have the money...

hope that helps...Cheerz

yep that i know ;) I did some custom thing on my Nissan 240sx... BCF (I don't think u guys know this shop) is own by a friend of mine so for the garage it's not a problem... But for the RB, a guy said to me that the swap cannot be done 'cause the exhaust is not on the same side as the BMW is so it's too much trouble... for the rest it's not a problem.... so can somebody tell me that a custom headers and exhaust can be made to fit the swap??

I've seen it done on an e30. Just a lot of time and money.

Correct me if i'm wrong but aren't the rb26dett engines awd tranny equipped? Maybe more possible for an rb20 or rb25 or even an sr20 which imo is more effecient.

RB26 is definately an awd system. Should switch your train of thought towards the RB25 with RWD, much less problem and about the same power potential.

the exhaust being on the left side is even better than the stock to would just be a straight shot to the back were as the stock exhasut does a little zig zag, the huy you were talking to is an idot exhaust is like the easyest thing you will deal with. you need to look at transmitions, the rb26tt from a gtr uses an awd trans you could do a conversion maybe remove the front drive or there is the possability of the transmition for the rwd skyline bolting up to the gtr engine. I know it can be done I have seen them rwd in 240's eather way just buying the engine and drive train is going to be very expencive and depending on how much whoever charges you to do the work it may be alot better to jsut build an engine that fits, you will may more power and have more money in your pocket and advil in you medicne cabinet.

For the AWD thing... you just have to put a Rb25 tranny (fit bolt-on on a Rb26)

Did someone say RB26 in an e30? I know a dude out in Buffalo who is doing it.

Why would you choose this over a 2JZ or LSx?

sweet it is, alot more work then planned tho. Rb26 incorporates the front halfshalfts into the oil pan... trans isnt an easy fit at all... etc.

Rb25 would be far "easier", FWIW

i can show you a E36 with a rb20det. i would be using a RB25det like nikuk said. or mod the 26 for rwd setup.

If you need help, hit me up. I've done RB into S14, and I know the wiring well. Mechanical will be no more custom than any other swap... custom engine/tranny mounts (weld your own), get a custom driveshaft. That's it. Not a big deal. I have a wiring guide that will help quite a bit.

I agree 2JZ is better, but they are much more expensive. Also, I don't think SR20 is worth it... why go down to a 2.0L 4 cylinder? The I-6's sound much sweeter and have more power for the same money.

Also, to do RWD RB26, all you need is an RB20/25 oil pan. The AWD tranny can be used if you cut off the front output shaft section and braze or weld on an aluminum cover.

sr20s are buttloads cheaper. because of the 240 craze here aftermarket parts are everywhere and dirt cheap. the rb, although popular is nothing compared to the sr20s in terms of OEM part avilability and aftermarket parts availability in the US. the sr20s are just as reliable and the power problems only come down to the displacement (although i prefer a ca18 over sr20)

No, that's what I meant. When I said "more power for the same money," I meant that if you spend $10k to build up an SR20 and $10k to build up an RB26, you'd get more power from the RB26 (due to displacement, which is what you said).

It's all opinion of course, but I'd never swap in an SR20 where there used to be an I6. A "good aftermarket" just doesn't mean that much to me.

I swapped a sr20det (redtop) into a early 240sx. Tha aftermarket is amazing for these motors, it really does help. I think this would be an awesome swap to consider, I'd like to see more info from the e30 above that has the motor in the bay already.

You go for an RB30DETT. A hybird RB26 with RB30 bottom end to get a 3.0 litre capacity. Or there's an OS Giken stroker kit to acheive the same result.

But a 2JZ is far easier .. and an S54B32 or S50B32 is a smarter move.

An S54 would not be an easier swap by any means.
