You mean the plastic cover on the top that says BMW? Use some soap and water.

Get a tub of hand cleaning wipes, GOJO, Simple Green etc. Very handy for that job, as well as other areas (and your hands). Armor All after to keep the plastic looking nice. My 1996 looks like the day it rolled out of the factory.

wd-40 it really looks nice not greasy at all. if you just clean it with soap only it makes the plastic seem like its got no lovin' clean them (I take parts like that in the shower with me, kill 2 birds with one stone) use wd sparingly but evenly, then follow up with quick deatalier for touch ups.

I power spray mine off once a year...then wipe dry and follow with some good Plastic/rubber/vinyl protectant....keeps it looking *great*. Be sure to wipe off any excess protectant though...it will attract dust.

Compressed air works great to get the dirt off. Then wipe all the plastic parts down with Vinylex.
