Do you need the whole thing or just the lens? As far as I know, the units are the same. The euros had the ability for rear fogs is the only difference that I know of (that is, they had the tabs for the bulb).

I need the whole assembly. someone backed into the car all that happened was the left tail light was broken but it is the whole assembly. From what I can tell the reverse light portion of the lens is smaller. I was able to locate one through the dealer but, it has to come from Germany and they want $800.00 for it. I also found one at a place called SSFf or $118.00 but, I am not sure if they understand this is a grey market car so I am a little afraid to have to keep returning the wrong part. Just hoping someone here would possibly have one sitting on a shelf they coulld part with.

That's strange, I always assumed that housing/dimensions of taillights are the same for US and Euro cars.
As was mentioned, the only difference between Euro and US is fog lamps which might be retrofitted easy.
I've seen different colors of lenses though, red was darker/lighter, but that's it.
If you're looking for cheap immediate replacement, I have my complete old tailights on eBay right now (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ih=004&sspagename=STRK%3AMESE%3AIT&viewitem=&item=140093336776&rd=1,1). Although not perfect, but still OK to use.

Good luck with your search.

It appears that by realoem, the assemblies are the same size. They differ because of the rear fog option on the euros. Consequently, the main assembly has a different part number also. Interestingly, the gaskets are the same which leads me to believe that the whole assembly is interchangeable.
I would think about the above mentioned ones on ebay.

Thank you for the help I think I may have located one at a place called SSF. If it not correct I will probably get the ones off of e-bay

For what its worth, I had luck find a reasonably priced lense at the following online store. I was happy the price and the quality of the product.
Good Luck!
