Picked up an 84 528e for $300 for a beater. Real solid car, runs starts, and all the major things work. It'll need some piddly work, but nothing huge other then this head gasket. It drives and idles fine and it's not over heating but there's coolant and oil mixing sooo i'm gonna be doing a head gasket.

Anything specific to look for on this car? Anything wierd or is it a pretty strait forward head job?

its all easy, make sure to clean up the top of the block and water pump for leftover gaskets real well, i cant stress that enough.
make sure to look at the engine before doing it so you know which gaskets to order, head gasket kit from steve haygood is 69 bucks but is missing a couple of gaskets, which total to like 2 extra bucks.
take your time to examine the hoses too, you might need to replace some of them like the hose that comes off the valve cover O_O

yeah, some of the coolant hoses do need replacing, but for now I've gotta do just enough to get this thing safely driving.

Steve Haygood? I'm assuming that is this stevehaygood.com? haha I couldn't get the engine mechanical section to work...

I's planned on getting the head gasket set and head bolts either from german imported parts.com or bavauto.com both of them came out to about $20 for the bolts and around 70-80 for the head gasket set.

Does this head require they spra on sealant or should I just leave it dry?

Thanks man.
