I am going to buy a bmw and doing research.
I found this article
http : / / en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BMW_M52 (can't post a url yet)
it says engine corrosion is an issue especially in british bmw.
is this the case with US bmw. I will be looking for e36 bmw.
anyone had issues with m52 engines?

It probably depends on where the car has been driven all its life. ie. weather/climate....

This is not the case with ANY six cylinder US cars.

The issue outlined in the wikipedia article is bore wear from Nikasil coating failure. This is a surface treatment found ONLY in early aluminum block M52 engines, NONE of which made it to the US.

The US version of the M52 engine was a cast iron block, and is near bulletproof. The 97-98 BMW Z3 received an aluminum block M52, but had cast iron sleeves in each cylinder bore to ensure long wearing performance.
