Hi, I just bought a 2002 325CI over the internet unfortunatly it was not as pictured! The door air bag was blown in the passenger side door. I bought another air bag and put it in. How do I get the air bag light to go off? Is there another module you need if only the door air bag blows? Can I fix this myself or will I have to go to the dealer? Thank you

At the very least the fault code for that air bag's firing circuit will have to be cleared, which means someone with an SRS scan/reset tool or a full-up diag system like a dealer or BMW indie will have. There's a chance that there could be other problems, but until the faults are checked/cleared you won't know if more work is necessary.

Chances are that the fault is related to bag you replaced, but there may coincidentally be a genuine problem. It's worth diagnosing properly to be safe.

You can take the car to a dealer or indy shop with proper diagnosing equipment. Or, borrow or purchase a Peake R5-SRS tool. This will read and reset the airbag fault codes. If you tinker with the car often, this is a good tool to have in your collection. It will likely pay for itself with one saved trip to the dealer.

We carry the complete line of Peake tools, and offer a package with the R5 FCXII engine code scanner (which also resets the oil service indicator) and SRS tool for $258.
