Im thinkin of putting on an aftermarket exhaust. I am leading more toward a supersprint right now. anyone have any experience with these? anybody recommend any other brands that i should look at?

there isn't too much available for that chasis anymore.

I have a friend with an Ansa exhaust that's brand new if you're interested. his motor blew before he got around to installing it.

I'm sure he doesn't want much for it.

you can also look into supersprint too.

a lot of people who have exhaust mods get it custom made........like a little bigger pipes going to a ressonator/glasspacks/hi-flo cat(if you have emissions in ur area) then thru a free flow muffler (like a dynomax turbo muffler or something).

you should shop around at exhaust shops and see what they can quote you on a headerback custom exhaust versus just getting a superspring catback. i know of a 320i owner who has a 2" custom exhaust w/ a foot long glasspack and muffler. he had it made and installed for around $200.

I built my own custom exhaust. 2 1/4 inch all the way back from the M42 header in my E21. Here's the link. Email me with questions.

Bimmerboys (e21 exhaust) (http://www.bimmerboys.com/webpage/silverdust/M42/exhaust.htm)

I was using an Ansa Sport exhaust with a Header and without the cat and it really brought out the sound of the resonated tips. dB reading was 92dB at 6,000 rpm from about 50 feet back. The only problem with Ansa is that it practically needs to be replaced every year.

A few friends of mine have Supersprint and are very happy with them, however they seem to think that the exhaust systems weigh too much. Other then that, no complaints, and the exhaust is pretty quiet

Check the Scorpion Stainless Steel exhaust at bavarian Autosport, they are not on the site, but they are in the catalog, send them an e-mail

NOTE:
hows the ansa sound?
is it worth the 120$ and how bad is the labor to install?
can u tell a difference?

to me it sounds nice, low tone like a remus/supersprint and gets louder the faster you go.

Ansa is made by the same people that do supersprint, they look identical, just supersprint uses better materials.

It was easy to mount, just three bolts and two rubber donuts, no cutting, no welding, easy 15 minutes

jbob are you refering the the exhaust set up I have on my 83 iS? I've since gone from 2 inch header back to 2 1/4 which made it one hell of alot louder but deep still nothin like a rice machine and made a really good improvment in power from 2000-6000 rpm it seems like the motor doesnt run out of breath as soon as it used to but hey more power is a good thing!!! :buttrock

hey kyle wuts up. 2 1/4!! awesome!.....is it still a straight thru setup? no cat? and what type of ressonator or muffler are u using?

does the 2 1/4 exhaust piping still fit above the rear axle?
if i turbo my car, i think i wanna get a 2 1/2 all the way back, but not sure if it'll fit above the axle.
