Hey all, the 05 cooper S had a weird problem the other day(s). I've noticed on a few occasions that the windows sometimes don't roll back up after you open the door and get in. I mean, that little gap it makes in the seal doesn't automatically shut after you've closed the door. I could hear a whistling noise after driving a bit, and then tried the switch and it was for sure down that small amount. Now, the other day, I came out in the morning, and magically my drivers and passenger windows were both down about 5". And the sunroof was tilted up in the back. And of course it rained so the inside was soaking wet. Anyone experience this before? Thanks in advance!

my guess is that you have the comfort opening feature activated (I think that's what they call it) where it opens the windows and sunroof if you hold down the unlock button too long or too many times. unlock the car twice and then hold the unlock button down... if the windows roll down that is the answer. in that case, just be careful with how you unlock the car... or the next time you're at the dealer have them turn that off.
I noticed something similar. Opening my driver door the window wouldn't retract. Because of this I couldn't close the door.
I lowered the window with the switch, closed the door and used my keys to lock the door and close the window (that feature came in handy).
A few hours later, the car was just sitting somewhere, I saw that both windows were open about 5".
This happened twice, only at the driver side. It was very cold both days. Both times the doors opened without problems, so I don't think the door or windows were frozen.
Ideas?
