Im experiencing two issues at the moment. My engine seems to be bogging down when I am accelerating. Also, I seem to be having alot of exhaust fumes or "steam". I don't seem to be burning any oil (haven't smelled any burning)

I have a 97 328i, the only performance upgrades I have is a stock m3 exhaust (minimal) and a cosmos cold air intake.

Anyone have any ideas as to what it could be? Do I just need a chip to maybe better callibrate the software to the intake and slight exhaust upgrade.

I have only redlined my car one or two times, in the 2 years of having it. I downshift sometimes on the freeway to get around someone, but as far as I can remember, I don't recall ever Over Revving it.

Any help is much appreciated.......

Check your intake hose behind the air mass sensor, it might be cracked. Does it bog down when the car is at rest and you rev it out? I had that problem once on my old E30. It wouldn't do it at rest, only when i was driving. Check it out. They normally crack in the creases. Hope that helps.

Your milky oil cap would suggest you're getting coolant into the engine. The dip stick looks OK but you may be changing the oil enough to keep the contamination hidden. A head gasket leak could be allowing coolant into the engine. If you pull the plugs, one or more should be clean with no carbon build-up because of the steam being formed in that cylinder.

the dipstick don't seem milky and moisture is normal on the oil cap cover when ppl drives short distance. If a gasket issue the engine should overheat when cruising due to steam in the coolant passages and if misfiring, it should be a regular vibration on the engine cycle. I really think that the first thing to look at is the HFM or MAF piping, try disconnecting it, to see if it improves the driving. No need to retune anything. There's got to be a massive air leak because of the cold air intake install. How is the idle ??

I have this problem right now on my E30 just curious would low oilpressure cause this? my oilpan was cracked and the repaired but it is still leaking. could this be my problem? it only does it under load not at stand still rev.
