???? looking to install one on my e36 but im not sure on the wiring

the E90 start button works with the CAS (car access system) control module, as well as the key slot. the dealer has wiring diagrams stored in the GT1's. it'd be easier to just install a simple start button that only activates the starter. like turn the key on, then press the button to start it.

good luck if you're really trying to "retrofit" the button into an E36.

oh really? thanks for the info, although it is a little discouraging. anybody need a oem e90 start button? also have a oem leather/brushed steel 6 speed shift knob to match

Which shift knob? Do you have the part number? If it is the optional one shown in the accessories catalog, I'm interested. That one is shorter than the true OEM brushed/leather one.
