I am thinking about picking up a used 1999 328is sport packaged BMW for only $11000. the car looks like its in great condition. do you think 170 000kms is too much for a BMW or will the engine endure much more. after all it is a sport car right??

170km (105k miles) is nothing. The engine should last to 250+
