I just bought some nifty new 36lb injectors to replace what we assumed were the 'stock' Dinan 28 pounders

When i tried to press the new injectors into the fuel rail they simply did not want to go far enough in to let me put the retaining clip back on

Comparing old vs new, the old actually looks beefier and has a larger fuel opening --plus its neck is more squatty which seemingly allows it to get the groove closer to the fuel rail so the clip can be put on.

old is black (D1720BA)

Did i get the wrong injectors? or maybe I need different retaining clips?

I don't have a lot of education behind fuel injectors but im pretty sure they aren't supposed to look that different.

The white injector is a Bosch EV6 with an EV1 electrical connector. The black injector is a Lucas EV1-style injector. The EV6 will fit into the rail and seal, but you can't use the retaining clips. It should work fine though with no leaks. The tuning might be off though as they have a different gain and response time than the EV1 injectors.

okie dokie, thanks for the comments! :)

I lubed em all up and pressed them in as well as they would go and bolted it all down.

unfortunately they sprayed as soon as i tried to start it.

I'll put the old guys back in and exchange the new ones for something that fits a bit better :)

If you are upgrading the larger injectors vs. the stock Dinan injectors, then I would either install the Lucas 36lb injectors or the FMS (Ford MotorSport) 42lb "green top" injectors. Either will drop in 100% and you can use the factory retainer clips and plugs. Both are tried and true in both S/C and Turbo applications on our motors/cars.

These injectors will work fine, I have the exact same skinny style installed in my car right now :) You just have to not use the stock metal clips. Also be sure to put them in the fuel rail before you put them in the intake mani to be sure that they are all seated correctly. If you have any other problems feel free to e mail me or bring the car and I will install them myself :)

heya Blaise --

I was just about to pick up the phone :)

they are sitting in the cupholder right now in my work's parking lot...I might swing by in a bit.

I pushed em in as much as I could but maybe my girl hands aren't strong enough?

I will say that hearing my boyfriend yelp when the gas squirted out was totally worth this whole effort :rofl
