is it possible to run MSD's BTM on an e36 obd2 m3 so the ecu does not pull the timing when under boost as an alternative to spending big bucks on re-flashing the ecu.

So you want a destroyed engine, then? The ECU pulls timing for a reason even when it's been properly tuned and flashed. People who can't even spell timing shouldn't be messing with it anyway. :) 97m3john 03-02-2007, 04:18 PM So you want a destroyed engine, then? People who can't even spell timing shouldn't be messing with it anyway. :) I don't want to turn this into a argument or anything. But the ecu will still be able to pull timing, the btm pulls timing for every lbs of boost. The btm intercepts the signal to the coil and lowers it to whatever amount of timing you want to pull.. Plenty of mustang guys use btm's on stock tunes with 8 or so lbs of boost. Now fuel is another story Oleg Coupe 03-02-2007, 04:28 PM I'll try this Ignition System in few weeks. KMS says it works with BMW great. http://kms.vankronenburg.nl/PHP/page.php?page=ignition Shuasha 03-02-2007, 04:51 PM I don't want to turn this into a argument or anything. But the ecu will still be able to pull timing, the btm pulls timing for every lbs of boost. I've downloaded wiring diagrams and tuning software. Looks good. Not AEM, but ok. Hope to get it in hands in 2 weeks and test it. We have our own fuel solution (independent injector computer with build in traction control similar to Race Logic) so if this KMS will works We'll get full control over fuel/ignition. BTW we have another useful thing - MAF Emulator and we used it on most our BMWs and Nissans that don't need to run full fuel system with traction. Works great for entry-level tuning setups. http://www.turbo-garage.com.ua/shopimg/electronics/MAFEmulatorPage.jpg (http://www.turbo-garage.com.ua/shopimg/electronics/MAFEmulatorPage.jpg) http://www.turbo-garage.com.ua/shopimg/electronics/MAFEmulator.jpg 54ODell 03-02-2007, 06:55 PM don't forget about Split Second. matt325is 03-02-2007, 07:32 PM The MSD 6-BTM pulls timing from a base (usually from your ecu settings), so it would pull even more timing than what your ECU is actually outputting. However this is only usable for distributered cars, and will not work on your coil-on-plug engine, or any other waste fire or non distributer car. matt |
