This is not a joke by any means... Florida is trying to pass a bill that will make radar detectors illegal. The following is a report from the associated press:

Radar detectors would be prohibited in Florida under a bill filed by a Florida lawmaker and former sheriff. The proposal, introduced by state Senator Steve Oelrich, would make it illegal to use a radar detector. But the measure would make using one a secondary, non-criminal traffic violation. That means that law enforcement officers could not stop you just because you have a radar detector in your car.If an officer pulls you over for another traffic violation and they discover a radar detector, they can then issue you a ticket. The legislation has the support of the Florida Highway Patrol, which says radar detectors have no other purpose than to help speeders avoid traffic tickets.

This is a petition we created to try to prevent this from happening...

Protect our right to prevent speeding tickets... Please forward this to everyone you know

Some folks are hesitant due to the fact that the site asks for donations. Please understand the you can skip this step... This is completely legit, and I'm not looking for anyones cash. Besides the fact that I wouldn't get the site would. I just want to protect my right to monitor those who are monitoring us.

One More.

If you sign this, please try and make your comments cogent/professional.

I read the comments after I signed and seriously wonder how many State legislators would support the petition after reading the crap some people wrote.

Ok I just sent it to every single person on every single buddy list I have, even if they don't live in Florida lol. When is this thing due to be passed? How many petitions do they need to not pass it?

I heard about this on the radio one day. Steve Oelrich is a murderous blackhearted bastard. I think its quite telling that he was elected in every county but the one he actually worked for...

However I heard about it a while back. Is it still under review and relevent now?

I have not heard of that law until now, but this is a country where we can buy a lock and next to it we find a lock cutter for that specific size lock.
If you are serious about speeding and not get cought, I am sure a company will come :unclesam with at radar where you are able to embed it in your car with remote access.

I dont know what it is...

I have lived in Miami since 1985 and in 1990 I owned a Lamborghini Countach and to this day I have not been pulled over for speeding .. but yet friends of mine that have radar detectors get pulled over,, I think its because they are so busy keeping an eye on the radar detector or listening to the chirping sound. Get rid of it .. like GPS companions.. crutches is what they are... get rid of them. :)

Signed.

After my old detector got me out of a bogus ticket in Michigan... I don't see where they are a problem. Just another way for them to get money
