hey everybody,

i've been having problems every few days with shutting the trunk lid on the z4 m coupe. first of all you have to be within a few feet of the car for the key remote to operate, secondly i have to hold the trunk unlock button for about 3 second (i think these two issues are the norm)...however once every few days after i open the trunk and then try to shut it, it just bounces up and down. It's as if the hook in the trunk lock is stuck somewhere and the lock on the hatchback (trunk lid/door) does not latch onto the lock portion in the back of the actual trunk. what i have to do is hit the trunk lock/unlock button again on my key, then try to shut the trunk lid. it's a problem that is very random, so everytime i take it to the dealership and state the problem, it comes back as "TESTED" with no problems found, so they give me the car back without doing anything! i've put a video camera in the car so i can video tape the next time it does so.

have any of you had a similar experience?

My remote activates the trunk lock from a substantial distance (and through walls) - which isn't true for the door lock remote (that only works from a few feet away unless you amplify it with your skull by putting the tip of the key to your chin when hitting the door button). The trunk remote button must be held for a longer period of time than the other button for door locks per the manual (seems like 3 seconds, I think it is less) - so that is normal.

As for the latch getting in a locked position before being shut - I haven't had that happen - sounds like something is out of adjustment (time for the dealership?).
