Just took delivery of the 2007 328XI in Black Sapphire Metallic. Previous car was a Lexus ES330 and we looked hard at the IS but liked the driving characteristics of the BMW better. Also just looks better. Which "E" designation is this car BTW? Unfortunately the buying experience was terrible. Had appointment on a Friday at 10:00 to pick up the car. We drive 40 minutes to get there and the salesman, says the car is not ready and won't be for two hours. Somehow the car was not sent to the boys who detail and set it up for delivery. I asked if we could at least take a look at it to make sure no scratches etc on it and get that out of the way. He walks us down to the garage and the car is filthy and covered in dirt and salt! No way you can tell the exterior condition. So we had no choice but to drive home and return later. The salesman threw in some all-weather mats to make it up to us but that didn't help as things went further bad. When we were negotiating we were asked by our salesman if we would be using our own financing and we said yes. That was the end of that discussion. At the close, we brought out the loan check and the F&I girl says, "oh, we don't take checks from them". Wife and I were just stunned. We asked why no one told us and they should inform our salesman of this. The F&I girl replied, "he (the salesman) knows" Anyway, we told her that this is a deal killer and she disappeared to find her boss. The wife was getting angry but I told her they will take the check especially since it is only for half the total amount and sure enough they did. The plates came in a week or so later and we went there to pick them up. The girl at the receptionist desk took forever to locate them in her desk drawers and then handed them to us and said, "thank you, have a nice day". We were shocked a BMW dealer wouldn't put the plates on, so we headed for the car. Just as I got in, a salesman came over and motioned to roll down the window. He asked if we just picked up plates and I said yes. He said, "this makes me so mad!" they know we are to put the plates on and he directed me to the garage.

Not the buying experience we expected but we still love the car!

Bad Dealerships :bigun2

Trust me I understand you when it comes to poor dealerships. So far my experience at my BMW dealer has been a good one but my current dealer for the Mazda hasn't seen me in 3 1/2 years because I refuse to go back to them until my lease is up to return the car and tell them :flipa

MN328xi - please post the name of the dealership. It's important that other potential buyers know about these issues and know what they're getting into. Believe me, the dealerships as well as the corporate guys check out these forums regularly.

Sorry to hear that. Thankfully I had a much different experience. I used BMW of Peabody outside of Boston and the buying experience was very good. No games, and they were very friendly and open during the lease negotiation, and they moved quickly.

Which "E" designation is this car BTW?

E90 = Sedan
E91 = Wagon
E92 = Coupe
E93 = Convertible

Whether it's a 328 vs 335 or i vs xi doesn't matter, the codes go by the body.
