Anyone know of something like this for the Z4?
http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewPro...eIndexID=54811 (http://www.mossmini.com/Shop/ViewProducts.aspx?PlateIndexID=54811)

Would this one fit a Z4M (I suspect the tow hook is the same thread size given the common manufacturer)?

Never seen it for the Z4 ... but my wife had that exact same thing for her New Beetle a few years ago. Although she rarely used it and just drive w/o a front plate, it was a neat little device.

FWIW - I just exchanged email with these guys. They are prototyping a Z4 version and expect to have it ready for sale in a couple of weeks. Interestingly, they told me that they have been getting quite a few inquiries for this from Z4 owners. If I get one, I'll be sure to post pics!

Cool - just what the doctor - err - copper ordered after getting a fixit ticket, perfect proof device that can be removed again. Damn these front plate laws.

Just got the first one from Go-Mini-Go yesterday! Dave Royce met me to install it over the lunch hour (took all of 5 minutes). Nice stuff - I'm very glad I went this route instead of the factory plate mount with screws through the bumper skin. :)

Get your state to remove front plates... no need for them.

I didn't think of this...I guess I could have saved time and money had you advised me earlier in this thread.:rolleyes

While you're on the phone to the governor Roland, get him to repeal the speed limit too. Tell him we all think speed limits suck. Except for SUVs.

I ordered a plate bracket from gominigo this morning and it looks like it already shipped. It won't normally live on the car. It's intended purpose is to be there long enough to get a potential fix-it ticket signed off on. I figured I'd go ahead and order it because you never know how long niche products like this might remain for sale...

I have the speed limit being addressed right now :) .

I really like the idea of being able to remove the plate when I don't need it.

I don`t know if ALL you guys are kidding with me or are very serious about removing the front plate - but when was the last time you looked at your rear view mirrors to read the front plate of the car behind you?? ;-)

You sound very confused.

California law says that all cars must have front and rear license plates. My car does not have a front plate installed. If I am stopped by the police for some reason, they will probably issue a citation requiring me to install the front plate. Once the car is brought into compliance with the law, I will need to have the car inspected by a police officer who will sign off on the citation. Once he's gone, the plate will go back in the trunk where it belongs. This tow hook gizmo is perfect for my needs.

Where I live, front plates are not required. We evolved in the 70`s on that issue. However, it doesn`t mean we are more or less confused, either on or off the road. We just think they are completely useless - just like automatic folding mirrors on a Z4. :stickoutt

Is there a fine associated with the citation?
Here it cost us over $100...

It's a token amount here which is why I'll normally run without a plate.

FL the sunshine state, no smog tests and no front plate and no laws about tinted windows. You get the idea.

I think they want the front plate so when they take your picture running a red light it's there with your face.

Perhaps, but if the plate is offset (like the pics I saw a bit higher up), the camera may not be able to pick it up... Still.... I vote for no plates on the front.:lol

Aside of a useless plate, maybe you can put a tow hook instead.

inTgr8r - Don`t you have a plate that is sort of painted or copied onto the bumper?
