I bought a drivers seat to swap out with my present one. I have a 94" 540ia.I began the leatherique process on the seat I just bought, but it's from a 525i and doesn't have memory like my present seat. Will I be able to install memory in the seat from the 525i if I take it off the 540i?
My other alternative is to pick up 2 perfect front seats from an E32(my old car) which are in perfect condition, but beige. Thats no problem to re-dye,but will it adapt to my 540i since the E32 seats have heat & lumbar controls?
The original seats are in good enough condition to leatherique but has the twisties, which now seems pretty easy to repair.
I would prefer to install the E32 seat and dye them. Are there any wiring issues?
Just looking for the best possible upgrade.
Also, is there any way to see how many posts I've made so I can show a picture of my car? I really DO have a 540i!
Thank you

First off, don't swap colors.

Second, I don't understand why you would swap seats in the first place. E34 seats > E32 seats, IMO.

Third, I've heard that swapping a 540i seat into a 525i is a bitch, because of the memory wiring, but I don't have any experience. If that's true, then I'd expect it to be the same vice-versa.

I installed two E32 front seats in my E34 Touring. The E32 drivers seat had memory and the harness wouldn't work with the E34 floor plug so I just swapped the E34 seat wiring into the E32 drivers seat. Not a big deal. Took about 30 minutes. Easier to cut all the wires where the seat bottom joins the seat back and then just splice them when installing back in the E32 seat. Gained the lumbar support feature which the E34 seat didn't have but did have the wiring tied up underneath. Passenger seat was a straight bolt in. I kept the E32 plastic side pieces and they tend to rub a bit on the center console and B-pillar on both sides. Suggest using the E34 pieces as the way to go.

1st I'm kinda embarassed about where the smiley face appeared,I didn't expect to see it near my post...I'll get this site down soon. hehe
I would swap seats because the E32 seat are pristine & perfect, plus they have heater & lumbar adjustment, then all I would have to do is dye.
Leatherique can be found at leatherique.com and it's awesome stuff.
It took me about 15 hrs to do the 2 front seats on my E28, but they came out perfect. They even had a complete tear across them which you cant even detect now.
They have an excellent crack filler thats like a thick elmers glue, and they will match your leather if you send them a swatch from under the seat.
There plenty of write ups if you google it.
I'm halfway done with the drivers seat I just bought at the jy,but when I picked it up in my garage I accidently gripped a weak seam and it tore leaving a 3" x 1" gash. I repaired it, which is the largest repair I've ever done and I'm worried it will show after I dye it, hence the idea of swapping seats with the E32. All I would need is to apply the dye with a compressor and it would be finished.
If I keep the present seat, I will have to fix the twisted seat problem and leatherique from square 1 and will take at least 6 hrs.
I'm hoping that messing with the electronics would take less time, plus I get a seat upgrade for being lazy.
I will make a computer chair with the extra seat and use a 12v adapter to make it functional.
