Generally, if the replacement tweeter is of the same nominal impedance, it will work out okay. Some passive crossovers take the actual impedence curve of the driver into account (a driver's impedence changed with both power level and frequency) but I doubt that the Infinity crossovers are that advanced.

Check Madisound or Parts Express for small-format, DIY tweeters. If your Infinity tweeters are 4-ohm, you might want to give the Seas 27TFFNC/G (http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?cart_id=4572350.11631&pid=2135) a try.

Be sure to buy a PAIR of these. Don't just replace one of the two tweeters...

yeah, those seas tweeters are pretty good for the money - I've heard them - a little more expensive would be the LPG25nfa (something like that) - search for lpg on madisounds website.

Just get the one you have repaired at a decent audio shop.

repair a tweeter?
Yes.

I just got my two rear woofers repaired.

There are shops that repair any kind of speakers here.

repair a tweeter?

My thoughts exactly.

The only tweeters I know of that can be repaired/rebuilt are pro-sound types. It is impractical to repair consumer-based tweeters.

You can't imagine how many cheap tweeters get repaired here.

You have a "throw away and buy new one" culture, we do exactly the opposite in my country.

Tweeters are highly susceptible to changes in mass and doping. Even slight differences would change the parameters and frequency response. And the imaging in a car relies on matched drivers.

It would be impossible for a refurbished tweeter to even remotely match the existing tweeter, unless all you expect of it is some highs/hiss.

Are you talking about compression tweeters? Yes, those are replaceable as there are factory pre-made diaphragms assemblies available for those. And possibly some higher-end Euro tweeters (Vifa, Seas, Morel). But if you are talking about rebuilding a tweeter with separate parts, such as you do for woofers, it would be a futile effort to rebuild just one tweeter---it won't match.

BTW, do they re-sole a single shoe where you live?

Just kidding,

I don't know if they fix every kind of tweeter or not, I just said that people gets their tweeters repaired here and, trust me, they do. If I get to speak to the guy who does the repairs at the audio shop I'm going to take my front woofers to, I'll ask him what kind of tweeters they repair. Usually I only get to talk to the owner of the shop which is not friendly at all.

I don't want to say yes but... :embarrasm

now that's not true...

It USED to be that way < 1996. "las cosas tienen que durar" -

I've seen woofers repaired when its a bad tinsel lead, any thing else is not cost effective. tweeters may PLAY again if someone manages to fix them, but play like new? Never.

Of course if i paid $300+ for a set of $60 tweeters I'd try to fix em too.

Yes, < 1996 and >=2002.

You need to come here again, everything has changed after the currency was devalued, now everything is being repaired again.

JFYI, Menem is not our president anymore... :devillook

I know, it's unfortunate they elected that socialist De La Rua to replace him.
Menem should NOT have pulled out of the run off.
He was the first president in God knows how many years to do Unpopular (but necessary) things. He was peronist in name only, and decidedly un-socialist.

BTW: What happened to the presidential Ferrari?
