Never considered an automatic until this new steptronic 335i w/paddles.

Any opinions from those that made the switch to automatic, or vice versa? Most important: If you could get a 'do-over' would you switch the tranny?

I can say I've driven both and drive a stick every day... but my new 3 will be ordered with the auto. I have no problem with people driving my car when it's an auto... but I don't let people drive my car if it's a stick. the paddles are nice, but I'm not sure how much I'd actually use them. since I'm getting an XI it's not something I need to worry about.

The car I traded in on my 335i 6mt was a Lexus GS300 with the auto trans and thier version of paddle shifters. Although it was nifty, I found that I rarely used it. When I bought my BMW I purposely sought out a stick and have been very happy. So no, I would not change my decision.

I had a stick TA WS6 and loved it when I could really use it, but having to deal with highway traffic simulating parking lots wore down on me... I've got the auto w/paddle shifters and just absolutely love it! Although it's not a stick, I doubt I could should that much faster than the auto does now... and I surely don't miss stop-and-go traffic in a stick...

I don't regret my choice either!

First time poster here - just took delivery of a 335 Sedan this week with the Steptronic, and it's by far the best auto I've ever driven. The shifts are quick with the paddles, but I don't use them alot.

Although I'm sure there will undoubtedly be times over the coming years that I'll find myself wishing I had the MT, the auto is sweet. If I get the severe need to shift it myself again, I'm only 36 months away from lease end

After the G35MT goes back to Infiniti in April, it will be the first time since 1989 that we don't have at least one manual in the garage.
