With this car its acutally easier because you dont need a mouting kit like most cars. Also watch out because some units will blow the stock amp. jerseybeemer 02-27-2007, 01:41 AM why do you want a aftermarket headunit? same reason why you have euro lights? Because I want it. jhstealth 02-27-2007, 01:56 AM Have you ever seen the small screw covers on the unit? Camelius 02-27-2007, 03:48 AM btw, any one knows the most "stock" looking aftermarket headunit for e36? cooljess76 02-27-2007, 04:20 AM Becker and Blaupunkt make some pretty nice stock looking stereos. Try www.midwestelectronics.com (http://www.midwestelectronics.com) for some great deals on Blaupunkt radios. I paid $56 for my Blaupunkt Casablanca. Here's a refurbished Blaupunkt Tampa Bay (http://www.midwestelectronics.com/blaupunkt-tampa-bay-cd51-p-342.html) for $55 badass95e34 02-27-2007, 10:05 AM Everybodys right about the allen screws after the screws are undone radio will pull right out. best way is to buy aftermarket wiring harness that plugs into stock harness behind radio (9.99 plus shipping) slamminnjammin@yahoo.com and going through stock amp will work but it is true can burn up stock amp or your new head unit if not totally bybassed. for instructions email or PM me. and if you want killer deals on the rest of your components email me. jhstealth 02-27-2007, 01:53 PM Yea for the stock amber look there is.. the JVC AR-5500 theyre forsale on ebay and many audio stores, that one is touch screen which is cool, theres also the the blaupunkt like everyone said. This is incorrect. If you use the correct wire harness adapter and antenna adapter there will zero issues with the OEM amplifier. I currently have a 1999 M3 Coupe with HK. I have had 4 Panasonics, 1 Blaupunkt, 1 Alpine. The first unit was put in the car in 2003. For your vehicle you need the following accessories with any head unit: Wire Harness: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/product.php/II=350/_cid=302 Antenna Harness: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/product.php/II=357/_cid=302 Halston Pitman 02-27-2007, 03:02 PM In terms of units that I would recommend I am going to lean towards 2 units since color matching sounds to be important to you. 1. Blaupunkt Bahama: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/images/fullsize/BP.BHM.MP46_fs.jpg 2. Panasonic CQ-C7413U: http://www.bavariansoundwerks.com/images/fullsize/PN.CQ-C7413U_fs.jpg The Panasonic unit is the better of the two(and the unit I use in my personal vehicle now) for many reasons: 7 band EQ built in Adjustable Crossover points XM/Sirius ready Bluetooth Read iPod ready. Let me know if you have ANY additional questions about head unit installation or if you have questions about the accessories you need or about the above posted units(or any other for that matter.) NAe36 02-27-2007, 04:15 PM same reason why you have euro lights? Because I want it. I was just wondering, if you want blue and green lights glareing you in the face go ahead. I didn't like the alpine that i had so i bought a factory blaupunkt so it matches the rest of the dash. But its simple to take the other radio out it takes like 5 min max. Be carful of the plug on the back it can break pretty easy. The difference is in that 98+ needs a turn on for the antenna amplifier. That is the small red wire lead coming off the antenna adapter for the 98+ antenna adapter. The 97 requires the one without the wire lead. The same one I mentioned to wopper. The smaller one will not be used with the aftermarket head unit. 95 ///BMW 03-12-2007, 01:09 PM The difference is in that 98+ needs a turn on for the antenna amplifier. I didn't hook up the antenna because i didn't think i'll need an adapter. Anyways, my stock antenna wire has the thin wire with the red end but the Alpine doesn't have a place to plug it in. Also noticed that the Alpine antenna hole is not deep enough to reach the antenna wire. Ireally need help in finding the right one. Stück 03-12-2007, 06:25 PM For a OEM look, and OEM lighting... I think its pretty hard to beat a Nakamichi CD400 or CD500. http://oldmary.lqhome.com/~jordansarette/coppermine/albums/e36Project/2006/August%202006/normal_082406-004.JPG (http://oldmary.lqhome.com/~jordansarette/coppermine/albums/e36Project/2006/August%202006/082406-004.JPG)-http://oldmary.lqhome.com/~jordansarette/coppermine/albums/e36Project/2006/September2006/normal_090406-001.JPG (http://oldmary.lqhome.com/~jordansarette/coppermine/albums/e36Project/2006/September2006/090406-001.JPG) |
