Haven't heard the pioneer play, but seems like a lot to pay for one of those. Check out the Elemental Design SQ10, heard great things about it and it's on sale for $70 with free shipping.

not going to get a lot of bass out og more like really good mid bass tey are expensive but if you want to try saving room in trunk then is an option and 70 dollars is a good price Free shipping can't beat that. but a single 10 inch sub and enclosure would not take up very much room espically if sealed. I own a stereo shop in Michigan so If you want some options email me with what size amp you have or plan on going with and can help you decide and defiently beat crutchfields prices.

Thanks , looking to install in the side panel of the touring.

Anything under 6 inches will fit IIRC from my measurements.

Pull the amp mounting plate out of the way.

FWIW: pio flat 12s had about 65% the output of a normal 12, and still needed just as much airspace.
the blaupunkt flat 10s had much better output.

Thanks guys I think I may go with the elemental designs. I was going to try an 8" solobaric but from the looks the ed subwoofer seems to be the best choice

Same situation with the ED woofer. The voice coil Xmax may be whatever they claim, but the surround will limit the excursion to far less. 65% of a conventional subwoofer seems about right. Not exactly going to break any records, but decent sounding bass at moderate levels.

The output is supposed to be between their 9 and 11kv2. It's not going to be ridiculous, but yeah, should provide nice bass at moderate levels.

Not yep been working on the system on the e39 sedan. Everything is going good except I need to make a custom faceplate to finish up.

Looks can be pretty deceiving.

The good news is the surround leaves for pretty decent non-linear clearances.

9MM of throw. 14MM roughly surround clearance before major lockdown.

The VC Xmax is able to be utilized and still have a little room to breathe. Not a ton. There is a little though.
