I have been getting PM's with questions regarding the tranny.

Here is some more info:

Made by ZF
BMW Part No. 23001434485

I got the trans installed in my '97 M3 35k miles ago under CPO warranty by a BMW dealership. The original trans had the 5th gear gate issue, but was otherwise in fine condition at 94k miles. But I had the opportunity to get a "new" tranny under warranty, so I did! I have the service invoice from the dealership showing that this reman tranny was installed under warranty on 1/29/03 at with the vehicle odo at 94k miles. The car is now at aprox 135k miles.

This trans is a BMW remanufacured unit w/ the 5th gear gate fix already done. It lists for $2,500 + core charge. It shifts like new and does not leak.

My car is a street car. The tranny has been tracked prolly a total of 8-10 times, but never raced or drag-raced. It has had frequent RedLine fluid changes (aprox every 10k miles). There is nothing wrong w/ the tranny. To give you an idea of how I drive, the original clutch lasted 94k miles, the original brake pads lasted 65k.

I replaced the tranny with a eruo 6 speed (finally!). That's the ONLY reason I am selling it.

I can have the tranny delivered to DC,MD,VA,DE (wilmington) for pick-up.

There is a tentative sale pending. Buyer is trying to figure out if the tranny is compatible w/ his car.

Any idea when he'll know by? I need to rebuild my current 5-speed, but I need my car to be done by the end of March. I might just buy yours to use so I can take my time fixing mine then sell it.

out of curiosity, how do you know if the reman trans you get from BMW has the 5th gear gate issue fixed? i ask because mine was also replaced under CPO by the previous owner and i wonder if the fix has been done. no sticking issues so far.
