View Full Version : Switch order to another dealer?

Let me start by saying at first I ignored the 'signs' because I just wanted to the car and the next closest dealer is 100kms (60 miles) away.

I ordered a 335i coupe end of January and am trying to wait patiently but in the meantime I've been trying to get my dealership to pin down the financing/leasing details - exactly what is due at signing, what its for etc but all I can get out of them is a lump sum figure.

The dealers 'finance guy' won't return calls or emails and my sales person just gives me the standard - we'll sort it out later.

Anyway, I'm in Canada, anyone know if I can take my 'build' and move it to another dealer?

At this point I don't care and would pay another dealer full MSRP (and then some) just to stick it to my local dealer. I don't however, want to order another one and lose/add a month to the wait.

So is the build # they gave me mine or is it the dealers and is there such a thing of taking my build and business elsewhere?

Any advice greatly appreciated!

sorry, but the production number comes from the dealer's allotment. you won't be able to switch to someplace else. I hate it when dealers do this stuff... they think that once you get the car in you will pay whatever since it's in front of you. I'd suggest you tell them that you would like to see a buyers order for the car (providing you didn't sign one already). the buyers order is a legally binding form (until the car shows up). from what I understand it's a requirement to order a car. anyway, if they won't show you what your payment is going to be and all the info I'd tell them to give back the deposit and jump ship. I know it sucks, but it's better to wait a little rather than pay thousands you don't need to pay.

Where in Canada are you? My dealer was very friendly and helpful before and after I signed the deal. I was given a sheet with the exact breakdown of what I was paying for and what my payments would be the day I ordered my car. If I were you, I'd jump ship.

Thanks guys... I'll be contacting the GM tomorrow to resolve this once and for all but if push comes to shove I'll be damned if they get my business -what's another month...

theroyalewe - this is what I was afraid of - should be my car, not the dealers!

Harve - I'm down in southern Ontario (Niagara) - won't slam dealer (until/unless they don't resolve this) but anyone down this way will know who it is.

I purchased my BMW 3 weeks ago at Town and Country BMW in Markham. We went over all the numbers, including lease rates on the spot. However, these numbers "could" change. Right now the lease is at 6.9% or 6.4% if you previously leased/financed a car from BMW before.

If the lease does drop from now until when you take delivery you will automatically get the lower rate. Before you cancel your order, give them a call again and schedule an appointment to go over the numbers with them, just tell them that you want to see what your options are between financing and leasing.
