View Full Version : 17" or 18"

hi guys i am new to this forum. i would like some advise on wheels do you think my e38 would be better with 17" or 18" wheels it has 18" wheels now and the ride is harsh i was thinking of putting on 17" wheel with a 235/45 or 55/ 17" tire asi want to bring back some comfort to the ride of the car can you please advise

first I've heard of someone complaining that an E38's ride was harsh. if that is the case, go with 17s. But it's a large car, it won't look as good.

If it's properly set-up (suspension-wise), the ride should be supple with 18s.

I don't know the wheels that are on it and the tire brand/size, so can't comment any further.

yeah i thought of that if i put a bigger side wall on that should take up any space i hope to god it does i think i'll go with the 235 55 17

18s at the very least - m-parallels look great

the wheels on it are bmw wheels and the tyres are still from the previous owners nankang which are made by yokahama but they are budget tires

I think 17s are better in everything besides the good looking department.

I wouldn't run anything smaller than 18 in an E38, I'd actually run 19.

some tires ride better than others. just do some research and you may not even need to go to smaller 17s to get a better ride.

+1 for a big car like the 7 you should go at least 18 for perfection in the looks department. nothing over 20 though.
