View Full Version : F/S bilstein HD's
jbd5015 02-26-2007, 01:03 PM Im going to be selling the set of bilstein HD's that are on wolfie right now. They have about 15 miles on them from install, so they "good as new" At the point in time which they will be available, they could have closer to 300 miles on them, but none-the-less, they will be in very good shape. I should have just bought Sports, but thats my own fault :banghead:. i bought them new off eBay from "techdeals1". I paid $410 total, which isnt a bad price for new at all. now they are like $399 though :mad. I digress, if anyone is interested, ill sell them shipped for $350 with all the parts neccessary for install. But seller must know that it could be a little while before this happens. I need to get the car to the place im going to be living for a little bit so i can get the car on stands and take the suspension off. Which might not be til May (this is because im a PSU student...sorry for any inconveniences).
I will except trades for sports in the same relative condition. Also will trade/reduce price for other suspension pieces (rear dogbones, front/rear sway links), euro turn signals, and perhaps other things...but i dont know what yet. Would like new pieces for the suspension though.

bkentopp 03-04-2007, 11:14 AM Jeff,
Hey I have an 1980 633csi hardy and beck modified 6er. I'm looking for an aero kit, do you know of any vendor or a place where I could get them.
I would be interested in your HDs but it sounds like you not to excited about the performance from them, is that correct?
I'll probably end up buying sports as well, but I have also heard that strut towers help quite a bit for less dipping in the corners.
Thanks,
Brad
jbd5015 03-04-2007, 03:20 PM They aero kits for the E12 based sixers (76-82 model years) are something im not too sure about. But in any case, either E12 based or E28 based, looking for a used one online (forum, eBay, classifieds) is gonna be your best bet for finding something for your car. Im not unhappy with the performance of the bilsteins, i had them on an older 7 series and they worked like a dream, but because of the springs i have on my car, they dont allow the car to fall as low as the springs intend. Thats why i need a set of the sports because they are valved differently to allow more of a suspension drop than the HD's. Also, because your car is based of the E12 5er chasis, and mine is based of the E28 5er chasis, the suspension components arent able to be swapped.
Hope this helps.

This seems to be a common misconception that the HD's and the Sport's have different valve rates and performance. The valving is identical between the two with the only difference being that the sports are made shorter specifically for lowering springs. So, don't use Sport's unless you have lowering springs.
