hi guys
i will be attempting an engine conversion in my e30 later this year after my stock m20 engine died.
my question is would either a nissan rb20 or toyota 1ggte motor fit in the engine bay? has anyone seen either of these conversions done?
any help would be much appreciated

I saw a thread on a build up of an rb20 not too long ago. So yes it can be done. But like all conversions like this you need: money, skill, money, a reputable shop that knows what it's doing, money, time, and money. I don't have the thread bookmarked... But I'll find it and post it up here for you. Eventually.
Good luck. I've been looking at an sr20 swap for my baby too. And yes, she's an e30 as well.

don't u mean 1JZGTE? never heard of that one u mentioned, and why not an RB25 swap?

The rb 20 is smaller (i think), cheeper, and still powerful enough.

rb20 is not physically smaller, just .5 liters less displacement. he lives in Australia, so either engine should be easily accessible. the rb20 has about 215hp, while the rb25 has 250hp. the swaps would be pretty much the same as well. yeah, it'll cost a little more, but the power potential will far exceed that of the rb20.

if only i could afford a 1jz. the other reason besides cost that i chose the 20 instead of the 25 is due to its reliability as this car will eventually be my daily driver. power doesnt have to be massive only around 200kw

iirc the 1g is another non-u.s. supra engine. 2L twin turbo i think??

i know a guy in my country who has done a 2JZGTE engine swap to his E30...it cost him (according to him) around 80,000 AED..which is like 20k-25k USD....he had to cut lots of stuff and do some custom parts...and also he added twin turbos and other stuff....he has one killer machine...looks completely stock too...
i went to do a 2JZGTE to my E36 and i was told it would cost me around 35,000 AED..which is like 10,000 USD....
so i was like.............................................. .....watever........
lol....as guys said above...these kind of swaps need a LOT of money..skill and MONEY....

Ok, let's say that the swap costs $30,000, so what? If it sets me back $35,000 plus the cost of my e30 then the addition of the suspension and whatever else I throw at it we're still talking about a car that's the fastest thing on the planet and is still under 50K. For the cost of less than a Z06 I have a car that's better than it in every way and looks cooler.
I'd do it.
