Our '04 has SMG and I really love it. We've had no problems with the transmission. However, I've heard of some problems with the '03 SMGs. If you're really interested in the car check to see that it's had the "blue dot" program upgrade (many '03 owners had this done by BMW and they claim the upgrade has corrected the problem) or confirm that the car is still in warranty. If still in warranty the dealer may perform the upgrade under warranty.

All that being said.....SMG is a kick once you learn the tricks to driving it.

Seems like a decent deal to me - it's a road trip away from being out of warranty based on the mileage, but it looks clean and it's well-optioned (Sport package - Premium Package - Navigation), but you might be able to get it for less than the BIN, which would make it a heck of a bargain.

I talked them down to $24,100 including their fees on top they will deliver the car to Sioux City IA, which is only 70 miles away from my home. Retail is $31,000. I took a chance to look at another 3.0i locally it didn't have nav or heated seats and they were asking $27,000.

I'm going to talk to my banker on Monday. I think I found my car! :)
