I need to find a good product to take care of my Dove vaders and everyone seems to point to Leatherique. I am just wondering if it is worth the $70 they charge for it or is there a better alternative?

View Full Version : Is Leatherique really worth $70?? wheresmym3 02-21-2007, 03:16 PM I need to find a good product to take care of my Dove vaders and everyone seems to point to Leatherique. I am just wondering if it is worth the $70 they charge for it or is there a better alternative? tjmonsen5 02-21-2007, 03:51 PM it seems worth it to me, i am planning on using leatherique soon on my cracked seats in my car. Have you ever seen before and after pictures of what it can do?? The seats end up looking BRAND NEW! and the leather gets really nice and soft again too. I say yes, its worth it. BimmerNoob 02-22-2007, 06:11 AM I'm thinking about getting the kit from Modbargins.com any more info on this product? wheresmym3 02-22-2007, 02:24 PM it seems worth it to me, i am planning on using leatherique soon on my cracked seats in my car. Have you ever seen before and after pictures of what it can do?? The seats end up looking BRAND NEW! and the leather gets really nice and soft again too. I say yes, its worth it. I've seen before and after when using the "restore kit" or whatever. My seats aren't cracked at all just have wrinkles in the leather. I want to restore more suppleness to the leather and extract some dirt and oils from the seat. Dove is hard to maintain compared to black or other colors but it looks great when in good shape! JD886 02-26-2007, 04:22 PM Yes. I'd suggest getting a heat gun and try using the conditioner while heating the seats. :WARNING: Keep the heat gun at least 10-12 inches away at. If the seat gets so hot that it burns your fingers, you risk damaging the leather. My seats in my mini at 55k miles look like 15-20k. I do the process about every 6-9 months, and the leather is still very strong. JohnZ3MC 02-26-2007, 08:56 PM I got 2 bottles a while ago, the cleaner and the conditioner. They're both huge bottles and I have only 2 bucket seats, black and perfect. No back seat either. The 70 bucks seems steep for such a quality product but think about amortizing it over 7 years. That's 10 bucks a year, or the equivalent of 2 lattes per year. Even if I had double the leather, it would equate to 4 lattes per year. Still very reasonable for such a quality product so I eventually came to terms with the price. I'll buy more then my current stock runs out. edit: I'm thinking 7 years is going to be a stretch, even for me. Even 2 years would be less than a latte a month. -John C. YFZ 02-27-2007, 09:45 AM ^ rofl at putting everything into terms of latte palomino 02-27-2007, 11:39 PM $70 should be the cost of the two 32oz bottles. I had enough Rejuvinating Oil to do my car twice (RO applied very generously) and my mom's car (RO applied a little sparingly). try the 16oz bottles if you dont want to spend $70. :dunno T56 Impala 02-28-2007, 11:16 AM I bought the two BIG bottles. Used them 3 times on the 740i, which made the seats like new again, and hardly touched the contents of the bottles! Even with my big car I'd say 7 years is a good number. No, I don't skimp on the amount of oil either. Its best to use this stuff in the summer when you can park the car in the sun for a few hours. Reapply as it "dries" or looks like it soaked in. You can put black plastic bags on the seats (if you have light coloured leather) to help build more heat. I would stay away from the heat gun unless you really know what you are doing. One mistake and $70 will seem VERY cheap. It works on the perforated seats too. In case you didn't see a prior post of mine, I called the company. The "perforations" do not go all the way throught the leather. They should actually help the product soak in even more. JoshVette 02-28-2007, 11:49 AM Where do you get this stuff at?? Should prove benefitial to my detailing business.:redspot lseguy 02-28-2007, 04:54 PM The Leatherique before/after pics seem to indicate that it fully addresses the typical E36 side bolster wear. Back to new. So this stuff is better or same as having to clean, sand, prep, and use the spray on dyes? BimmerNoob 02-28-2007, 08:17 PM Where do you get this stuff at?? +1 I have dove grey interior and it's starting to get beat up.... Do I go for the Rejuvenating Oil or the conditioner and cleaner?? or all 3? promp3 02-28-2007, 10:05 PM I used it. the tops of my back seats were hard and it made a minor diffrence, not like what they said it would do I used it repeatedly and even used a hair dyer it seemed like it help alot I could see it wick into the leather, I think to get them soft agian would take alot of work, my hand started hurting from trying to work it in and get shit soft agian, but I deffanatly think it is the best stuff on the market, maybe I was just expecting too much. Petrucci 03-01-2007, 05:28 AM Totally worth it! Check out my experience with it. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=692364 Ru5tynuts 03-01-2007, 08:30 AM nothing like Leatherique is going to fix actual cracks in the leather. You'll just have soft cracks! You'd have to do some sort of filler while trying to match colors, etc. I'd just leave the cracks for that well used look. If they're too bad, consider re-upholstering. I doubt a crack patch would look good, cheesier than leaving them alone. wheresmym3 03-01-2007, 06:44 PM I have to give it a go...will order it this weekend. uncle 03-01-2007, 07:55 PM If you use Leatherique, you will minimize the probaility of cracking. Do it before the problem starts.. promp3 03-01-2007, 09:44 PM Totally worth it! Check out my experience with it. http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=692364 what did you use? you said you dyed the seats. I thought we were talking about the cleaner/conditioner. Steve530 03-02-2007, 01:59 AM I used Leatherique Rejuvenating Oil on my seats last month. It was cold in the garage, so I put a small electric space heater in the car and hung a digital thermometer over the seat. Then I adjusted the space heater to keep the temperature in the car about 80 degrees. The RO soaked in overnight with no problem. It's an alternative to the heat gun if you feel comfortable with leaving a space heater unattended. Hellrot Sachin 03-02-2007, 06:22 AM Leatherqiue is amazing, definitely worth the $70. |
