Hey everyone - I saw the August HPT BMWCCA Club Race isn't on the calendar anymore. Anyone have any info? Hopefully it wasn't dropped due to poor attendance in 2006, but that would be understandable. Several people, me included, were down last summer with car problems. But several of us are also back and running now, I was hoping to run the event this year. Just curious, thanks!!

Yes, I am aware of that. The race I hosted at Hallett last September had the same challenges. I guess the good news is that BMWCCA CR is willing to let us try to build up a base of racers and let us keep trying to host races for a few years with initially low numbers, to see if we can build them up. The good news for the Hallett race is that since we use COMMA to handle all of our race admin, so the local chapter doesn't suffer any financial consequenses. However, I fully understand the financial issues when a chapter runs their own event and HPDE, they have a large track fee, insurance, etc. It is very difficult for them to justify allocating a run group for only a few cars. :( I fully respect and understand that decision, I am just disappointed that we don't have more racers in the middle of the country. Maybe in a few years we can find enough entrants to make it work. Perhaps that, maybe combined with some PCA racers (that is done in TX and other parts of the country to help fill the fields, they don't run for or effect our points, but since they run under the same 13/13 rules, it is easy to make it happen) will give us enough entrants to try it again. Last year, there were at least 4 BMW racers down with mechanical problems in this part of the country, hopefully we will all have better luck this year. I may try to come up and instruct in the August DE if I have any tires left, I'll need new ones before O'Fest, so that would be a good opportunity to finish off some old Hoosiers anyway.
