UUC, Autosolutions, maybe others. A good but inexpensive SS is to use all OEM BMW parts. Either an e36 M3 shifter or a Z3, Z4 shifter. These can be had for around $60. The Z shifters need to be bent to the same shape as the e28 shifter.

UUC has the Evo3 which I have in my 88 M5. I love it.

i had heard of the z3 shifter work for other cars but not on the e28. Bimmer magazine went as far as to answer a readers question telling them that the z3 shifter would not work on a '88 e28. it would only work on pre '85 e28's. so from what you are saying is that the stock e36 m3 shifter will shorten the throw on the e28.

hello, I went to realoem site and saw that all e36 series have the same shifter... is this true? Or is the m3 shifter different?

best regards, j

I just recieved the autosolutions shifter for my e34 and will probably be doing the same for my e28. Its fairly heavy, not too many pieces and very robust. They're supposed to last longer than any other after market shifter.

I love my evo3, if only they figured out how to put neutral back at neutral as opposed to being in the position of fourth.
