on my old W203 mercedes (last design C class) there were things that were available in the car that could not be accessed. For example, in the US locking the car, the lights would blink - but setting the car's ECU to think it was in a specific country, the beep acknowledgement would sound as well.
So this got me thinking... in Europe, cars can have their windows opened AND closed from the remote (hold the unlock or lock button respectively). In the colonies - because more lawyers came on the Mayflower than stayed in Europe - we can only use the open functionality.
What if we programmed the Bimmer's ECU to think it's in the UK? Or if that confuses it because of left/right drive issues - another English speaking country that has these features?
Who could do this programming? Is this a dealer accessible setting - or does it need to be done at the factory?!
Spread the word - perhaps we can get a freebie feature!
