I've been looking for a 535is for the last few months. Since it's going to be my cummuter, I want an auto. I know, I know...but I have to have coffee in the morning plus I go through bumper to bumper traffic every night. Anyway, can the diff be upgrade to get more get-up-n-go? Chip upgrade? I know the 5 speed is faster and want to come close. I had a 86 528e auto for a few years and it was great. Slow as hell but great gas mileage, solid as a rock with the coldest AC in any car I've ever owned.
Plus, any thoughts on this e28. I know it's pricier than normal but it's super clean!!

OT, anyone here visit the mMye28 forum? I've register a while ago and still trying to get my account activated. No reply to emails either???
TIA

The diff can be upgraded, but im not sure how short of a diff you should go with a 4spd. i would think a 3.73 would be the most, but a 3.46 would seem like a good one. chips are available, and a chip and diff will definitely make it a quicker car. And any 535is, auto of 5 speed is gonna feel a hell of a lot faster than the fuel friendly eta car. Looks like a little high price to me, but a very nice car.

Looks very clean, but I'd see if he'd come down on the price a bit if I were you. As far as mye28.com, PM WiseguyON on this forum and he should be able to help you finish your registration.

Yeah, I'm turning into a lil bitch. But the 880 and Sunol drive is killin me. I did it in my e36 manual for a yr and it sapped my rowing enjoyment. Seen the other ones on CL but looking for something around 150k.
Thanks for the inputs and suggestions, fellas.

Yea...looks to be a set of wheels from an E39. If you do get that car, or any car with "factory 17's", make sure they are either hubcentric or have hubcentric rings if they are not. They look like a set offered as an option to E39 5ers as ive seen them on one around school, and they look terrible on an E39, but a lot better on the E28 and never would have thought so.
