just wanted to say hello and whats up guys,
Still have my E21 parked in NC while i'm in the desert.

I plan on keeping it as a toy, so I'm still around. I'm working on plans to build a different motor. Right now the M3 has priority for funds:evil2 .

thinking bmw from the sand:(

are you looking to build up the s14...or go w/ something bigger (like a s52 swap)?

good to hear from ya across the world...any idea on when you're coming back?

hey Jason,

I'm looking at building up the S14 of course:D . Then the 320 gets attention, probably the 2.2L build i've had parts for the last year. I'm looking at a newer 5 series for daily driver. I'll take some time off in August, maybe a month then back over here for awhile. So far this new job is great, and the pay reflects it. I miss the states, but I could see doing this work for another 3-5 yrs. Gonna be hard to work a normal job after this one. We've been in firefights with the taleban for a week, then quiet the last 4 nights. A real mind fuck, but I like it.
I've decided to unplug from the world for awhile, but now I'm back to reading BMW stuff online. Makes the time go by easier.

you ever get that turbo motor tuned in yet? how is it?

cool...well, stay safe & kick some ass. Are you allowed to post any pics of like where you're staying?

the turbo motor is tuned better now (I had to re-do the crank position mount because the ignition timing was too retarded across the whole rpm band). But it ran into what I hope is a software/hardware problem: engine shuts off for about 20 minutes (even with good power to all fuel & ignition components) when it starts to boost...and then it'll start up like normal. I'm waiting for March 1st when SDS comes out with their new Version 16 software, which will add AFR data-logging, sensor-failure detection, and a few other new features.

very cool! man, that landscape change from snowy mountains to flat flat desert is pretty trippy...and seeing fields of poppy is pretty crazy. Looks like it can get pretty freakin' cold too :eyecrazy

lol, are you modding guns since you can modify your cars @ the moment? ;) seems like that AK has all the bells & whistles you can possible get for it.

Great pics.

I must have skipped over something, but what and why exactly are you over there for? Are you US contracted?

I was working at Verizon as a satellite network engineer for 6yrs. Just got tired of the place and people. I was offered a Job with EDO-Darlington for Afghanistan and here I am. I deploy and provide satellite comms for the spooks during the war on opium. High pay job, but has high risk. I've been into satcom since the Army in 1996.

I'm waiting to work out details for the M3 before building another M10 engine and stripping down my 320i for a complete overhaul. It will become a nice autox/track rat. I plan to build my own 3 link suspension for the front. Freshen up the parts that need to be replaced, and insert a new motor. The last few events with my current setup was tits, but I've got new Ideas that will make it even better.

Still for starters I learned in the beginning.
easiest way to make most power out of a stock M10 is
-cheater grind 286 camshaft from TEP
-38/38 weber from weber carbs direct

The cam you just drop in and the carb you have to collect the conversion pieces. Completely transforms the M10 for power.

///:devillook :devillook :devillook
2.5L crank, with either (308, 292 cams), or a pair of 292s; still deciding on cams
schrick valve spring kit
evo injectors
adj FPR
evo 3 adj wing
Grp A replica 2.5L pistons
dtm CF airbox
ltw flywheel
HD clutch
aluminum bushings
brakes
exhaust
differential, probably stock 4.10 with higher lockup
suspension (still undecided, but probably GC's)

Just to name a few and yes i'm going a little nuts.

Whats hard is to keep from using MS cams and making a track car out of it. I was going to just do a 2.3L, but I will never be in the states long enough anyway. I might as well take my time and do what I really want.
