I have an 06 TiAg Z4 M Coupe. I was wondering if any of you folks decided against tinting your car due to the auto dimming mirrors? For those of you that have tinted;

1) How's the night visibillity?

2) Did anyone go with Huper Optik or V-Kool ?

Tint it :P. You'll get used to the night visibility.

For the record, I have 18% all around.

Im planning on tinting soon... that'll probably be my first mod :)

BUT - wait until it warms up to have it installed. Last thing you want is the water between the film and the window (if any is still there) to freeze! (of course, if you are a lucky socal or florida member... go for it).

Huper is really good - hard to apply well so if you have a shop that supports it and does a good job go for it. The coupe has such small openings, that restricting radar detectors any isn't good - with Huper's ceramics that isn't a problem... sorry, don't know V.

how much should you spend on tint for a z4? and is mirror tint worth it?

IMO tinting really ruins the look of a Z. If you have to do it, make sure its a high quality job.

I spent $100. It's only 3 windows :).

Mirror tint, from what I know, is shit. At night, it doesn't reflect light, and therefore doesn't really work well as tint :(.

How did you get it for so cheap, so many places ive called want like 200-250 saying how tinting a bmw is different because of the windows going up after closing the door...?

Warm places should charge around a hundo - it's us northerners that get screwed on tint pricing. Most FL and CA people I've seen pay around $150-250 for a 4 door sedan, so yea, $100 seems about right.

I did the top of the line tint (live in Arizona). I wouldn't have a car without it. The difference in heat in unbelievable, and it also saves on the interior.
