I was thinking about these wheels I saw on ebay and emailed the guy and this is what he said when I asked will they fit an e39......

''These wheels are built for the E46 M3, as they are right now no they wont fit the e39. But is easy to do. The center bore on your E39 car is 74.00 and the E46 is 72.56. This would cost 100.00 to have machine work done to the center bore. (common practice). The front wheel will have to receive a wheel adapter to reduce the offset about $60.00 Also (common practice)
For correct E39 Fitment the wheels $160.00 more then the E-Bay price.''

Now my question is can or should this be done and is it safe?

Yes, boring out the hub to E39 74.1mm is fine

Running spacers is also OK, but not the best solution. In this case it is the only way to make the fronts work. Make sure the spacers are hubcentric to E39 bore size

Just pay the 160 and get the correct fitment.

I'm guessing you'd spend that in the labor costs to bore out the center alone

When I got my Mpars the center borr was wrong for the front wheels. So at first i thought instead of sending it back for a correct size (74.1) and waiting another week and a half i would take it to a machine shop. i called up two different shops and what they told me is Yes they can do it but wanted to charge $70 per/wheel. thats $280 for 4wheels. I live in Boston area.

I didn't see that...by all means get the correct fitment if you can

Yeah I think you guys are right to just get the right fitment. The price on the are not to bad and they are made by VOLK so I think they would be a good quality rim and worth paying the extra

Spend the extra $$ to get the correct fitment. Make sure it is

You'll spend at least that much altering the other wheels and buying the hubcentric spacers

I think its like 72.56 at least thats what the guy said. ok thats teh center bore. the offset should be a two digit number like 15- 30 or something.
