Ok, here is the project. I have my nice 88 325is that is my daily driver in the nice weather months and I just bought a rolled in a ball 02 M3. As you can imagine I have the S54 engine and 6 speed and all the wiring for the car but I am concerned with the drive by wire and making everything work properly. I have done a few S52/M52 conversions in E30s but never tired something like this. My biggest concern is making it reliable. If it's not reliable I'll just go the S52 route and sell this off. I'm in central NJ and am willing to pay someone to help as long as they know what they are doing. I have a nice heated shop to work in and am willing to take a back seat role (aka handing tools) to someone who knows how to get the wiring working. Even if someone just says these wires need to go here and these need to be soidered there. They can go home and come back when I have it done. If someone has done this and can help and I feel that they truely know what they are doing and I will get the engine in and exhaust and cooling system working so all that will need to be done is the wiring. Also if someone is out there and has done this can you tell me if they feel it is better to mount the engine is close to the rad support or remove the firewall and mount the engine in back a few inches. I know it would help with balance but would perfer to hack as little as possible on my car. Only other question would be to someone who has done this is if the ran into any oil pan clearance issues. Anyway hope to hear from anyone who can help. Thanks

I saw a guy in California do that swap. The wiring is a maze. His comments were that it was mostly common sense but that it was just tedious and time consuming.

I can't really help, sorry.

Keep us updated, this is probably the best swap possible. ^_^
