After fixing a chip or scratch with touchup paint, is it wise to finish it off with some brush on clearcoat? OK, not needed, just seal? What to seal with? Zaino, other poly wax or is there special paint sealer?

You could "get by" on a solid color like black or white, but the metallics really need a clear coat touch up after the color coat. I just make it a habit to apply my color coat touch up, then let dry, and finish with a clear coat/hardener touch up. Then, I can compound/polish that area to make the work invisible.

Any recommended dry times on the color coat before clearcoating?

Depending upon air temp where you are working on the car...I'd say 30 minutes with some decent heat nearby. I have twin halogens on a stand and put the lights about 3' from the car's surface. I remove the lighting after 15-20 minutes to let the metal return to room temp and then apply the clearcoat.

You're right on the money Totoland. I bought some touch up paint from the dealer and it included the base coat and clear coat. It says in the instructions to wait 30 mins before applying the clear.

Thanks BlackSapphire: I'm still learning good touch-up techniques. The dealer I work for has been super informative and we've been trying some different methods. The metallics were driving us crazy before we used a clear coat/hardener mix. My goal is to touch up chips and not be able to find the spot! LOL

See Ya

Thanks! I thought I'd have to touch up, then wait a week for it to dry naturally or something similar.
