View Full Version : One extra spot available for Autox School 3/7/07! xenonk 02-16-2007, 12:28 AM It's at Ripken Stadium all day, some guy dropped out, who's in? $250 to take the class.. must use your own car. PM me for details SpeedTheory 02-16-2007, 12:29 AM Boo on this being so early in the year. I'm going to try to do an Evo school down here in FL/GA. Apparently there's one coming up. shim 02-16-2007, 12:34 AM $250 for an autox school? YOWZA!!! 1996 328ti 02-16-2007, 12:37 AM Do you get to keep the cones you hit? shim 02-16-2007, 01:08 AM Do you get to keep the cones you hit? and are they atleast carbon fiber? series 02-16-2007, 04:29 AM my school is rite by there I saw the porche one last year. Pretty cool Andy 02-16-2007, 04:32 AM Happy ending included? shim 02-16-2007, 04:33 AM Happy ending included? wtf are you doing up?? go to sleep!!!! 1996 328ti 02-16-2007, 08:47 AM my school is rite by there I saw the porche one last year. Pretty cool I guess English is not your major. Or minor. Andy posts @ 03:32 AM orijinal poser posts @ 03:33 AM Talk about going to sleep. shim 02-16-2007, 10:20 AM Andy posts @ 03:32 AM orijinal poser posts @ 03:33 AM Talk about going to sleep. yea......i was late for work again :( xenonk 02-16-2007, 08:41 PM yea, well, it could go down if we can find 2 more people.. but I think it's a given at a minimum of 6 people right now makes it $250 each person... figure you get about 40 runs... for a normal autox season at 10 events x 4 runs = 40 runs.. not to mention that 10 events @ $30/event, it's $300 total that you spent in the year.. so at $250 with some instruction seems to be a good deal.. at least this way, you wont be slow all year long ;) ComBIRDable 02-16-2007, 11:12 PM Out of curiosity, is there a way I can "test out" of Level 1 and possibly Level 2? I've been to two novice schools put on by other regions, and I've completed 3 full seasons now, so I don't think I'll get my money's worth out of level 1. I'm looking into Evo School this year, but if that doesn't work out, I might consider WDCR Solo schools instead. Thanks, Scott xenonk 02-16-2007, 11:53 PM the weekday school that we are attending is 6 to 8 student tops.. we have 3 drills to go through, and a full course to do at the end.. the instructors will be there to give you tailored training, regardless if you are 1, 2 or 3. The instructor will know how much info to give you.. so the more you know, the more challenges they will put you through.. I remember I was probably one of the few veterans that was attending the weekday school that full of level 1 students, I still got the chance to learn something great in that class because of the 1-on-1 instruction I got.. I was given the upper level stuff and a slightly different challenge to achieve. It was hard to knock down all the cones using JUST the rear inside tire.. I had to run over the base of the cone with the tire.. not hit the actual cone portion of the cone.. you can feel it when just run over the base of the cone. Talk about precision driving at its finest. SpeedTheory 02-16-2007, 11:53 PM Scott, what other regions put on novice schools? Scott, what other regions put on novice schools?I went to one put on by the Susquehanna Region in the parking lot of Hershey Park and another put on by the Philly Region at Ripken. The Philly Region has also run novice schools at the Warminster airstip. Unfortunately, all of these options are pretty far from VA. :( All you have to do is e-mail Brian Garfield (I have his contact info somewhere) and explain your situation.Thanks. I think I also have Brian's contact info. I'm currently on the unofficial wait list for the Evo School hosted by WDCR. That school is not officially on the schedule yet, so I'm waiting to see what happens there. If the Evo School doesn't happen (it just changed ownership) then I'll probably do the WDCR school. I've done this for 3 years, and my times have gotten better each year, it is just a slow progression. I've heard many competitors talk about how much an Evo school helped them, so I put it in the budget for this year. It is the only SECRET WEAPON  that I can afford this year. :( Thanks for everyon'e help, Scott xenonk 02-17-2007, 06:33 PM I autoxed for 3 years myself before taking Brian's school for one day.. I'll tell you this much.. taking one of his classes is far more than what you can learn in a year on your own. You can sit there all year long trying to figure what you did wrong in those 3 to 4 runs.. the funny part about is how many of those autox events you had an instructor sit in the passenger seat to give you pointers? Or even better, how many rides did you get with an instructor who was driving? So much more can be learned in one day with about 30 to 40 runs. Doing the school is the ultimate secret weapon.. it's such a secret that you would never know when someone took the class and starts whooping @$$. We all think "damn, what did that guy do to his/her car this year? why is it soo much faster this year than last year?" ;) cuz we all know that we all talk smack about how everyone sux at driving and drives slow, so it must be some kind of secret weapon added to the car ;) ComBIRDable 02-17-2007, 11:17 PM Well, given that go-fast parts for the M3 are stupid $$$, school is probably the best bang-for-the-buck I can get. I'm sold on the merits of the school. At this point I already decided on Evo school. If that doesn't pan out, I'll do the WDCR school. One way or the other, I'll get faster... I hope:help Scott 95///M3 02-18-2007, 11:21 AM I would be in for this if it were on a weekend. I want to get into some driving events and this couldve been a good opportunity. xenonk 02-19-2007, 09:43 PM looking for a final spot to fill in so we can drop the cost down to $200 a person instead of $250.. any takers? SpeedTheory 02-19-2007, 10:04 PM Damn, I'd be home for this, too, but have an interview that day, so it's not worth me trying to find a car to use, anyways. Biggins 02-19-2007, 10:10 PM I don't want to change my Blizzaks back that early... M-technik-3 02-19-2007, 10:15 PM I'd love to do it but I'll be flying the week before hand so I am unsure IF I'll be home in time. I hate my flying schedule sometimes. Is the parking lot gonna be swept for sand removal? xenonk 02-20-2007, 08:01 AM I'd love to do it but I'll be flying the week before hand so I am unsure IF I'll be home in time. I hate my flying schedule sometimes. Is the parking lot gonna be swept for sand removal? there's no sand out there that I know of.. with this rain coming today, it'll clear a lot of it away. I don't want to change my Blizzaks back that early... drive on your blizzaks up there, swap wheels when you get there, and swap them back on your way home.. that's what Im planning to do.. oh wait, Im still on r-compounds from October, hahahahaha, AWD FTW! M-technik-3 02-24-2007, 01:31 AM Stop teasing.....I'm three days in delay so i don't honestly think I will make it back in time. Shame. |
