View Full Version : I'm starting Team BAHNBRECHENDE AUTOWERKE

FIRST MEETING IS ON MARCH 16TH, 9PM, Yankee Grill & Roaster in Renton:

1 S Grady Way
Renton, WA 98057.

I am starting a competition team. I know I've said it before, but this is the real deal. I've posted interest before about a "Team" meeting of a more casual nature in the past, but with TDF and BF.c being so 'family oriented' and organizing so many events already, I want to focus on an actual team. Here is what the team will be about:

Commitments:

Show your car at at-least 5 events per year (HIN, Concours, etc);
Compete in some type of event throughout the year (drag, auto-x, road course, drifting, or even car audio);
Meet monthly with an agenda and tuning time;
Sponsor events like Food Drives and other community supporting events;
WORK ON YOUR CAR!! Improve some aspect of your car over the season.

I will not ask you to run a banner, sticker, or any other type of advertising or attention-getting idiom on your car if you do not want to. I WOULD require you to put a static vinyl in your rear quarter window during competition or show events. I would also require that the "Team" have as many cars at the shows together as possible.

What I will do for the Team:

I will provide any technical and/or installation support I can, whether it be from myself, tuners like carb-conn or BMW technicians I am acquainted with, etc;
I will provide you with any items I can get for your car at my cost. Currently I have accounts with the following vendors:

*Apexcone/XtecUSA/DDM
*Garrett
*Amsoil
*Simota
*Bilstein
*Koni
*H&R
*Tokico
*Sachs/Boge
*KYB
*Eibach
*B&G
*Hellwig
*Addco
*K-MAC
*Ingalls
*Powerslot
*Hawk
*Hiop RaceTec
*BBS
*Samco Sport
*K&N
*Stromung
*Rieger
*Stoptech
*Diffsonline
*UUC
*Lamin-X
*Germany Motoworks
*Recaro
*Powerflex
*a few others

So why do I want to do this? Well, it's not for the money I can tell you that right now. I am doing this because I am REALLY competitive and I love to go in there with a team and kick some ass wherever I go. I want to do this for pride, and pride alone. I want to do this to represent the PNW, Washington State, and my community. The reason I do my business is because I LOVE it. I don't do it for the money. When I get a shipment of parts in it's like being a kid in a candy store every time, even though I know they are not for me I love to be able to give that feeling to other enthusiasts. This Team would just be the next step.

Let me know if you are interested. I am not going to hold interviews... I don't care what you've done or who you know. All I care about is that you love being an enthusiast and you want to kick some asses and take a whole lot o' names. :thumbup:

I'll start getting things organized in the next month or so. No events realy start until April, but I'd like to start meeting in late February or March so we can look at the upcoming events of the year and see what you'd like to do.

TIA!! I look forward to meeting you and making this year an INCREDIBLE JOURNEY for you and your car. :thumbup:

its a crew to get together with, hang out, bbq, work on cars, go to track events together, ect ect ... .just a "CREW" and jesse is going to hook it up on parts ... basicly just a group of people who have a love for cars and help each other out when and where they can ....

It was going to be on March 2nd but then I got scheduled to go to a conference on March 2-4 and March 9-12 in Sacramento so I can't do it that day.

I don't get it, what does is the team for like a club or racing team or what?
Yeah, for everything. We are going to meet monthly, talk about upcoming events, show together, participate at events like Auto-X and Road Coarse together, etc. The other part is that we are going to help each other promote faster progress with the modding of our cars.

The point is that a lot of people want to get into these things and become more involved, but they don't have an outlet or a support system to do it. Maybe someone wants to get into Auto-X or Road Coarse but doesn't know what they should do first. Well if people are there that are doing it already, they can guide that person and participate with them locally. That is just one example.

I'll be participating in Auto-X, Road Coarse, Show & Shine events (like HIN), and Audiophile events this year. I am more than willing to help anyone else who wants to also do any of those events, and as a group we can show our pride and community to others. :thumbup:

I want to drift, can you help me out?

All smartass remarks I could make asside. An M3 isn't a car to learn how to drift in, They're expensive to fix. Learn in a 240sx, get a LSD, get some Kumho's and learn how to drift, then move on to the ///M when you're ready.

i can drift the hell out of my m5. if you had a tire connection i would be down to compete in the drift comps.

I would be down if I was eligible for track events and such, but I'm not, so I can't be part of the team **cries**

But this sounds like an awesome opportunity, have fun.

I agree.. axles and rear end for an ///M3 cost more than a replacement 240SX! :D

Atterbury? I started this about a month ago before I met STFU, so I want to leave it up to see if it works out. I am meeting up with Randy and the team this weekend though - we have close friends in common (we're almost family!) and they meet like 3 minutes from my house. If this doesn't pan out I may just do that.

There are a lot of E46s that drift. They of course set up their cars very well, including full cages, but I'm sure that they replace a lot of parts too!

Yeah, and they handle better than my car in the twisties. Lol.

Unless you make your chassis twice as stiff and ridid/supported, you're just kidding yourself, plus you will have to gut your interior.

Your car is too heavy and rolls too much in corners to compete against lighter/more agile cars as it stands right now.

Well, like I said I can probably get a sponsor if a few people are going to be drifting. Most drift teams have tire sponsors just for that reason. I already have a good relationship with Les Schwab so I'll talk to the Sales Manager about it tomorrow. :thumbup:

I think initially for at least the first couple meetings you guys will need to drive up. We have to get organized first. After that we can work on having separate monthly meetings. I'm sure there will be events you guys will want to attend up here, and vice versa. I'll be going to events everywhere from Cali to B.C., so that should work fine. :thumbup:

If you can get me a 5spd tranny for my car. I'm in ;)

This sounds like a good idea and I'd be interested in participating. Don't know if I can make to every event/meeting as I'm active in some other local clubs. Looks like I can make the first meeting though

Do you know, can I show a stock car at an event like HIN or will I be laughed out of the place? :)

I don't drift (at least not intentionally), but have heard the 2nd gen Rx-7's make a great drift car - they are pretty cheap and there are lots of used parts around.

This is true. Lightweight, RWD, can break tires loose like nobody's business, and like you said inexpensive.

You don't have to go to every event. Pick your niche..

And yes, you can show a car like your M-Coupe at HIN. They give trophies just for club participation at HIN, so we could have 20 stock M3's there and win SOMETHING. lol. Besides, your car is kick ass and clean as hell!

HIN is a bit more strict with what they'll let in now i heard.
For example i was told they arn't allowing cars with stock wheels in anymore. :embarrasm

Of course there are lots of other car shows during the year. :)

Your idea sounds like a lot of fun! I've thought about getting into competition and some sort of a car club but have always been hesitant because I'm a noob at stuff like that.
I don't know that I'd do much racing with my 328i since it's my expensive daily driver but I'd definitely get into stuff like show and shine and maybe pick up a cheap car to autox/beat on.
I like the idea of it being a club. it would be fun to learn more about the auto scene with a group of enthusiasts.

Why don't you come just to see the type of turnout we have, and stay in touch with the group?

Plus, if you get involved with the group you may find that it is easier to swap in a 5sp that it is to sell your car, buy one with a 5sp, and then redo everything you've done to your car. ;)
