...yup.. 18" style 5's :buttrock
Unfortunately, the wheels won't go on for while.. I wanna get the suspension set up before I put these on.
.... But I am excited.:redspot
The black 535iA will stay in the family. My brother is buying from me... (minus a couple of mods of mine..) I'll let him mod it how he wants. Basically, he's getting the car with the wheels and suspension. He is coming from the tuner scene... so hopefully I can keep him in check with this one.
clevertd 02-15-2007, 04:15 AM Looking forward to watchin this one develop. I can't bring myself to buy wheels without doing the suspension first, but damn, it's tempting.
Well.. the wheel purchase wasn't planned. But I definitely couldn't pass up this deal. 18" style 5's are somewhat hard to come by (in this good condition). I'm gonna get the suspension soon.. just waiting to sell my truck.
liquidtiger720 02-15-2007, 04:51 AM damn, $900.... good deal. I was gonna snag them if they were still there this weekend.
e34life 02-15-2007, 05:02 AM hope your cleaning up those wheels before you put um on such a beautiful car.
Grim Reaper 02-15-2007, 10:10 AM Great find on the 18s. Look forward to seeing this clean 535i progress
zfender14 02-15-2007, 10:15 AM Nice spot of bird poo on the front fender! But seriously, love the rims, cant wait to see it take shape. Gotta love the m30.
4500 RPM 02-15-2007, 11:39 AM Wow, we've got some reppin' of 18" Style 5s on Bf.C.
Nice.

Yeah.. definitely couldn't pass that up. I guess I was lucky email #1... the guy was really cool.. he works for Sonnen BMW in San Rafael. he said he was getting at least 8 emails a day on these. I emailed him about 45 minutes after he posted the ad.

No doubt. The pics were taken right when I got the wheels home. Since I'm not putting them on right away.. i could spend some time cleaning them up. I'm in no hurry... anxious, but no hurry.
Great find on the 18s. Look forward to seeing this clean 535i progress
Thanks. If you like, I'll trade you for your M5... :D .. SUUUURE.. I'll throw in the style 5's...

Thanks! There has been an increase on these recently. I guess that's what got me inspired to really look for them. It was either these, or I keep the mpars.
Alpine535i 02-15-2007, 03:09 PM Nice, I love the M pars though. That will be my wheel purchase I believe. Good luck with the project, I am in the same boat you are.:redspot
MMmmmpower 02-15-2007, 03:41 PM Very nice style 5's, I would love to get my hands on a set of 18's
SC David 02-15-2007, 03:41 PM Ooh, it's going to be interesting to see what you do with this car. Those wheels look beautiful.
There is an M-tech 535i 5 speed on Craigslist right now that I REALLY want. I'm not the biggest fan of green...but I definitely have M30 5 speed envy.

I know what you mean with the mpars. I've always wanted a set. I will miss them of course..although I'm sure my brother would easily switch if I wanted to.
It is a little more rare having a set of 18" style 5's.. I like to be different.

Thanks... yeah.. it was pretty much the only other rim I'd get other than the mpars. 17's or 18's.. finding the 18's was just a plus.

I've seen that one too. Not a bad price either. My bro was looking at that one.. the only thing that swayed him to buy mine is that he KNOWS what maintenance has gone into it (plus the mpars.). sometimes buying a used car is a gamble.
Yes, you can always get a PPI, but still never guarantees anything.
Phrozeone 02-15-2007, 04:26 PM nice, looks good.
e34life 02-15-2007, 05:51 PM are you gonna take them apart?
are you gonna take them apart?
i'm not sure yet. We'll see how clean I can get them without first. If I still have the time.. maybe.
(I'm trying not too)
E34/535i 02-16-2007, 03:02 AM I went and looked at the car you're referring to when the seller originally tried to sell it over a year ago. It is in the Oakland hills. I too was attracted to the fact it has the Mtech kit but it just wasn't worth the price he is asking given the overall condition of the car. Unless the seller has done a ton of work to the engine, I wouldn't waste my time with this one. In his defense, however, he did have a ton of records. Let me know if you want any further info on what I recall from inspecting the car and I'll try to fill you in on what I remember.

scyrusurcys 02-16-2007, 04:44 AM Don't let your brother ruin that awesome car of 'yours'. :D
4500 RPM 02-16-2007, 10:43 AM what is M about it?
manual trans, not ///Motorsport
skateparks 02-16-2007, 12:04 PM A word of caution... I have 18" S5's (see sig) and recently took them off my 535im in favor of  the original 15"s  . The performance loss with the 18's was rediculous, in line with the difference in a JC chip compared to stock. Given the effect the weight has on the performance of the car I can't even imagine the long term effect that the extra weight must have on the suspension parts.

I'm used to 18's. I'm sure teh Mpars I have now on the auto are heavier than the 5's. But I have been looking for a good set of 16's. :D

It really makes a difference with the lack of power my car has. Any weight difference makes a noticeable change.

I've seen that car before on CL, quite a while back. Must have been for sale for a long long time. Really love the m-tech kit though.
Edit: Oops, I didn't realize David said "m-tech 535i".
