Hi, the DIY for replacing the thermostat no longer exists. Does anybody have the link saved that they can send to me? Thanks.

Drain coolant.
Note the position of the Tstat and the location of the switches.
disconnect switches.
undo the lower rad hose and drain coolant.
optional drain is a 17mm bolt on the header side of the block.
Unscrew all four clamps and install new Tstat with switches installed, new clamps and preferably, new hoses.
Lower car to the ground and use BMW coolant+ distilled H20.

start car with open coolant tank filler and let idle.
switch the HVAC to heat and turn the fan on high.
At idle, palpate the lower rad hose to help move trapped air and allow warming coolant to get to the Tstat.
Replace filler cap after 3-4min.
keep a close eye on the coolant temp gauge while idling.
You want to be sure that the lower radiator hose gets hot to touch. That way you're confident that the Tsat will open.
Until that hose gets hot, the engine can overheat as water is not circulating thru the Tstat, or the radiator, or the head
